I can’t wait to block for Aaron Rodgers – being No.11 NFL Draft pick for New York Jets felt like I was living a dream
OLU Fashanu got a text from Aaron Rodgers the night he was chosen to protect him.
The offensive lineman was the New York Jets’ top selection in last month’s NFL Draft.

The 21-year-old was picked No. 11 overall out of Penn State.
And he will face one of the toughest jobs in football in protecting modern-day great Rodgers, 40.
“The night I got drafted Aaron Rodgers sent me a text,” Fashanu told The U.S. Sun.
“He congratulated me, told me how happy he was for me and that he’s excited to get to work with me.
“Morgan Moses sent me a text and I met Alijah Vera-Tucker for the first time and they’ve been great.
“For around a week it felt like I was living in a dream but now it’s definitely sunk in that I’m an NFL player for the Jets.”
Rodgers’ eagerly-awaited debut season with the New York Jets ended in shocking style last year.
He managed just four plays before suffering an Achilles tear on a sack against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.
The four-time Most Valuable Player has made a full recovery and is back under center in 2024.
“You’ve got to understand the position you’re in,” Fashanu said.
“Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks of all time, a future Hall of Famer.
“To be in a position like this, it encourages you to go out and work even harder just knowing the type of guy you’re blocking for.”
Fashanu will get to work this summer on trying to win a starting role in the Jets offense.
He understands the weight on his shoulders being a high draft pick and protecting one of the greats of the game.
“It’s how you think about it, ” the 21-year-old said.

“I already put a lot of pressure on myself, I already know the type of player I can be and just hold myself to a really high standard.
“For me, it’s always been about trying to uphold my own high standard and meet my own expectations.
“As a rookie, you love to go and be a starter right away. But for me, it’s just about helping the team win the best way I can.
“I think it’s really important for myself as a rookie to really learn from the vets and I’m very fortunate to be in a room with a lot of vets.”
