Harrison Butker has responded to his graduation speech controversy, but hasn’t apologised
Harrison Butker has finally made a response to the controversy surrounding the graduation speech he made at Benedictine College Kansas in the US.
During the graduation commencement speech on 11th May, he told female students that they would be “happiest” as “homemakers”, before going on to criticise the “diabolical lies told to women” about topics such as IVF and called abortion the “murder of innocent babies”.
The misogyny singed sentiments in Butker’s speech were branded as “fucking horrible” by female students in the audience and were met with further outrage from those online.

In the now two weeks since, Harrison Butker had not acknowledged or made a response to the backlash his views in the speech have caused until Friday night where he responded to the controversy at a Courage Under Fire gala in Nashville, Tennessee.
“The theme for tonight’s gala, ‘Courage Under Fire,’ was decided many months ago, but it now seems providential that this would be the theme after what we have all witnessed these past two weeks,” he said.
“If it wasn’t clear that the timeless Catholic values are hated by many, it is now. Over the past few days, my beliefs or what people think I believe have been the focus of countless discussions around the globe.”
“The more I’ve talked about what I value most, which is my Catholic faith, the more polarising I have become. It’s a decision I’ve consciously made, and one I do not regret at all.”
This comes after Travis Kelce also spoke out about Butker’s speech on the latest episode of his New Heights podcast that he hosts alongside his brother Jason, saying that he “doesn’t agree with the majority” of his teammate’s views.
