Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle confirmed on campus with Georgia
The highest rated prospect expected on the Georgia campus this weekend has arrived, with five-star offensive tackle David Sanders confirmed to be in Athens via his Instagram.
Ranked as the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect in the Class of 2025 in the On3 Industry Ranking, Sanders is the nation’s No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 1 prospect in the state of North Carolina for the cycle per the same metric.
The rising senior is no stranger to Athens having made at least half a dozen visits to Athens over the course of his recruitment.
Currently, the Tennessee Volunteers hold the lead for his services in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, sitting with a 28-percent chance at the moment. Georgia, however, is lurking just behind with a 17.7-percent chance to land Sanders in the end.
A big part of what’s keeping the Dawgs in the mix and has throughout?
“Georgia is Georgia. They develop offensive tackles from high school to their junior year and send them on to the NFL,” Sanders told DawgsHQ at the On3 Elite event. “It’s a great system that they have down there … They send guys to the NFL religiously. It’s not a question. If you go there and do what you need to do, stay focused and produce on that field, you’re going to have a shot to be a top rated first rounder, no question.”
Georgia holds a single offensive line commitment in the Class of 2025 currently, with four-star Mason Short having pledged to the Bulldogs in early April.
On3 Scouting Report on David Sanders
Twitchy, explosive jumbo athlete who looks like one of the top offensive tackles in the 2025 cycle early on. A two-way star for Providence Chrisitian in Charlotte as an offensive tackle and defensive lineman. Has a tall, lean frame, measuring in at around 6-foot-5.5, 250 pounds. Registers as a top athlete, excelling in the combine setting. Transfers that athleticism over to the field. An electric mover for an underclassman offensive line prospect. Explodes to the second level and moves effortlessly in space. Plays much stronger than his lighter weight would suggest. Has developed upper body and core strength to plant defenders into the ground. Flashes some dominant tendencies as a drive blocker and finisher. Runs his feet on contact and plays with some nastiness. Relatively advanced technically. Also shows off his athleticism as a defensive lineman. Would be an easy Power 5 prospect on that side of the ball. Also shows his functional strength in track and field, where he’s a standout in the shot put, with an outstanding personal best of 53-3.5 feet as a sophomore. Will need to continue adding mass, as he is relatively lean and does not have an overly wide frame. Older for the class, turning 17 years-old as a sophomore.
