San Francisco's Most Expensive Listing, $38M Historic Mansion at 2990 Broadway Hits Market in Pacific Heights
The real estate market in San Francisco, known for its steep prices and luxury properties, has a new top contender. The most expensive home presently on the market in the city is located at 2990 Broadway in the prestigious Pacific Heights neighborhood, with an asking price of $38 million. This detail comes according to a recent listing by Sotheby's International Realty.
Perched on what is commonly known in real estate circles as Billionaires Row, the Jewett mansion has come up for sale following the death of Lucy Jewett in late 2023. Spanning about 10,000 square feet, this three-story abode commands spectacular panoramic views, including the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. The Robb Report highlighted the home's six bathrooms, a trio of powder rooms, and an expansive subterranean garage with a car wash area.

Built to entertain and remember the city's elite social affairs, the mansion was the venue for the late philanthropists George and Lucy Jewett's gatherings, which hosted notables such as George H.W. Bush and Prince Philip. The Robb Report noted that the Jewetts were known for their philanthropy and social events, frequently including politicians and dignitaries worldwide. The house was also described as facilitating elegant living, with interior spaces large enough to have dazzled heads of state, royalty, and local high society.
The legacy mansion's architectural design, created by Sandy Walker, opts for a modern take on the city's signature bay windows rather than an overly ornate exterior. It features a grand gallery, an octagonal entry vestibule adjourned, and a circular hall with a unique compass-inspired marble floor design. The house also boasts a library, a solarium with a glass roof, and a spa lounge with redwood paneling, as Sotheby's International Realty detailed.
Pacific Heights, where the mansion is situated, is considered the crowning jewel among San Francisco's neighborhoods. It is known for stately residences that belong to legacy families and industry leaders. 2990 Broadway holds a special place, marking the last buildable lot developed on the Gold Coast.
