Tua Tagovailoa injury: Dolphins QB leaves after scary hit vs. Bills
In the third quarter of the Miami Dolphins’ showdown against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion. The Dolphins were fourth-and-four when Tagovailoa scrambled up the middle and was tackled by Bills safety Damar Hamlin.
After remaining on the ground momentarily, Tagovailoa walked off the field on his own power. Although Tagovailoa didn’t miss any games in the 2023 campaign, the former Alabama standout suffered two known concussions in the 2022 season.

This concussion is Tagovailoa’s third of his NFL career. It was a slow night for Tagovailoa before he suffered the injury. He finished the game with 145 passing yards and a touchdown while throwing three interceptions.
Tagovailoa has only thrown three interceptions in a single game two other times in his NFL career. The Dolphins ultimately failed to score on their offensive drive after Tagovailoa left the game with quarterback Skylar Thompson behind center.

Tua Tagovailoa blasts former head coach Brian Flores
Tua Tagovailoa spent two seasons playing under Brian Flores before Miami brought in Mike McDaniel as head coach ahead of the 2022 season. Tagovailoa was recently asked about the difference between the two coaches during an interview with Dan Le Batard.
“Well, to put it in simplest terms, if you woke up every morning, and I told you, you suck at what you did, that you don’t belong doing what you do, that you shouldn’t be here, that this guy should be here, that you haven’t earned this right,” Tua Tagovailoa said.
“Then, you have somebody else come in and tell you, ‘Dude, you are the best fit for this. You are accurate. You are the best whatever. You are this, you are that.’ Like, how would that make you feel listening to one or the other?”
It’s clear that the fifth-year quarterback feels that Brian Flores was constantly tearing him down, while Mike McDaniel is constantly building him up.
“You hear it, regardless of what it is, the good or the bad. And you hear it more and more and you start to actually believe that. I don’t care who you are. You could be the President of the United States,” Tagovailoa said. “If you have a terrible person who’s telling you things that you don’t want to hear or that you probably shouldn’t be hearing, you’re going to start to believe that about yourself.”
