Intel from Tennessee’s 365 Live recruiting weekend
Over the weekend, Tennessee held its 865 Live recruiting weekend. A number of top recruits from around the country made their way to Rocky Top to see the Vols.
Some of the big names in attendance included Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle David Sanders Jr., Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench and five-star UT quarterback commit George MacIntyre.
Volquest’s Austin Price had the latest intel about the big recruiting weekend on The Inside Scoop football recruiting show.
Five-Star Plus+ OT David Sanders
Sanders is the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect and the most sought-after offensive tackle in the country. Recently, On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons called their shots on the top uncommitted prospects in the 2025 class.
Right now, Tennessee appears to have the momentum with Sanders.
“He’s back to Tennessee over the weekend for a third time since the start of April unofficially — of course, he’ll be back here and a number of other spots for official visits in the month of June,” Price said. “But David Sanders, as Chad (Simmons) and Steve (Wiltfong) both kind of pointed out in their predictions for top uncommitted guys, Tennessee has a lot of momentum with David Sanders. Not done, he’s not in the barn yet, but at the same time they are the team that’s trending well for him.
“He connects really well with (offensive line coach) Glen Elarbee, he connects really well with George MacIntyre. It feels like Tennessee, right now, is in a good spot. Again, got to survive the official visits to Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia and all those other schools. But, Tennessee has done a really nice job with David Sanders.”
5-star WR Jaime Ffrench
Five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench recently told On3 that the Texas Longhorns were currently at the top of his list. He has set up official visits to LSU, Miami, Tennessee and Texas throughout June.
“Well I mean, I think Texas is clearly the team to beat,” Price said regarding Ffrench. “Again, he’s going to take all of his official visits In June and start working towards things. Do I think Tennessee could potentially flip the momentum in there? Yeah, sure. Right now, I still think Texas has the most momentum with him. . . I think Texas is still kind of the team to beat. But I think Tennessee is in it, they’ll just have to have a really strong official visit in June.”
5-star QB commit George MacIntyre working to recruit Sanders, Ffrench
Nashville Brentwood Academy five-star quarterback George MacIntyre committed to the Volunteers in late January and ever since has been driving the Vols’ recruiting effort from the 2025 class.
“He was working on Jaime Ffrench and David Sanders. Those are the two he was really focused on,” Price said. “He went around a lot with Jaime Ffrench, because I think he and David just generally talk quite a bit. Those are the ones he’s working on. He’ll be working on guys at the On3 Elite Series event coming up this week — Travis Smith, Caleb Cunningham, Jaime Ffrench will be there, David Sanders will be there. All those players, he’ll be whispering in their ear trying to make sure they get excited to come to Knoxville for their official visits in June.”
Additional intel from 365 Live
Other top targets on Tennessee’s board were in Knoxville over the weekend, like Columbia (S.C.) Heathwood Hall Episcopal School four-star cornerback Onis Konanbanny and Dandbridge (Tenn.) Jefferson County four-star IOL Nic Moore.
“Tennessee leads for Onis Konanbanny, the defensive back out of the state of South Carolina and originally from Canada,” Price said. “The Vols, he said that Tennessee leads there.
“I think Tennessee has positioned itself well with Nic Moore, the four-star offensive lineman from Jefferson County, which is just outside of Knoxville. Tennessee was slow to offer, but once they finally did it feels like he’s really connected well with Glen Elarbee. He and David Sanders have similar personalities, they did a lot of hanging out over the weekend. He’ll take some visits coming up, but again I still think Tennessee has positioned itself well there since they offered. They’ve shown him how much they truly want him now and I think that’s talking to him big time.”
