In-state 2026 tight end prospect Cooper McCutchan working toward Ohio State offer
COLUMBUS — Ohio State is in the evaluation process for several tight ends in the 2026 cycle as Keenan Bailey looks to build his board.
The Buckeyes have offered 11 tight ends and there’s an opportunity for a couple of in-state prospects to find their way on the list.
Three-star Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller tight end Cooper McCutchan camped at Ohio State on Wednesday and he’s working toward earning that coveted offer.
McCutchan is the No. 398 overall prospect and the No. 19 tight end in the On3 Industry Rankings. At 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, McCutchan moved well during Wednesday’s workout and it’s all motivation to do something bigger.
“We’ve been talking about this for a while [and] I’ve been wanting to play for Ohio State ever since I visited a couple of months ago,” McCutchan told Lettermen Row. “It’s the place. It’s the place right now.”
Lettermen Row’s Mick Walker handled the offensive camp observations from Wednesday and wrote this about McCutchan’s performance at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
Ohio State tight ends coach Keenan Bailey worked out several talented 2026 tight ends on Wednesday and Lettermen Row thought that three-star Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller tight end Cooper McCutchan was the most impressive.
McCutchan physically looks the part at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds but he also moved well during drills and consistently caught the ball. He is still improving as a blocker but is already a high-level pass catcher at the position.
Ohio State did not offer McCutchan on Wednesday but he is firmly on Bailey’s radar and even told Lettermen Row that he has heard from Ohio State commitment Nate Roberts.
It’s true. Both Roberts and McCutchan have told Lettermen Row that the two have been in contact — a good sign for things to come with McCutchan.
The Cincinnati-based prospect holds a solid collection of offers right now too. Kentucky, Boston College, Cincinnati, Louisville, Minnesota and others are all in the mix for him. He’s fast approaching Notre Dame’s radar and Wisconsin too after making visits to South Bend and Madison in the spring.
The in-state prospect was one of many tight ends to work out in front of Bailey this week, however. Ohio State hosted at least five 2026 tight ends inside the On300 on Thursday for a workout that included Corbyn Fordham, Ryder Mix, Mack Sutter and 2025 tight end commit Nate Roberts.
