Speeding 20-Year-Old Facing 7 Charges After Mansfield Incident
MANSFIELD, CT — A speeding 20-year-old driver wound up with seven charges after an incident in Mansfield Sunday, state police said. According t0 an arrest report from the state police Troop C barracks, the incident took place at about 8 p.m. A trooper conducting a speed enforcement detail on South Eagleville Road encountered a black sport utility vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. As the trooper tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver, a Westbrook resident, sped away from the cruiser in the direction of the University of Connecticut, according to an arrest report. He was illegally passing and ran a stop sign, state police said. State police managed to get his plate number via surveillance images and he was eventually tracked down and arrested, according to an arrest report. The driver was charged with:Traveling unreasonably fastReckless drivingDisobeying the signal of an officerImproper passing A lane violationA stop sign violationSecond-degree reckless endangerment The driver posted a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Oct. 22, records show.
