Liam Payne slammed over ‘attention-seeking’ antics at Niall Horan’s gig

Liam Payne has angered fans with his appearance at his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan’s gig, as he was labelled an ‘attention seeker.’
For five years Liam, 31, and Niall, 31, were two of the five members of the iconic X-Factor grown boyband One Direction.
The band ‘went on hiatus’ in 2015 and have since embarked upon their solo careers, carving out paths of their own in their varying genres.
Liam visited Argentina with his girlfriend, TikToker Kate Cassidy and supported his former bandmate Niall by attending his gig.
However, fans had a mixed response to the singer’s appearance as videos were shared of the singer hanging over the railing from the box to chat with fans and serenade them as they recorded him.
The star didn’t shy away from stealing attention and was snapped singing along to the song Summer Lovin’ from the musical Grease, belting out One Direction’s hit song Stockholm Syndrome even signed autographs for fans outside of the concert and a local hotel.
Some felt the singer should have had a more low-key approach to attending the gig, as they labelled him an ‘attention seeker.’

‘Oh Liam Payne you’re never beating the attention seeker allegations,’ said littIefreakmay on X.
‘Liam Payne going to Niall to make it abt himself are we surprised,’ said Idolszts.
Some even compared his behaviour to the low-key approach taken by other members of One Direction, who avoided the limelight when attending fellow bandmates’ gigs.
‘The way Harry and Niall were trying to be as discreet as they can be about being at each other’s concert and then you see liam payne’s motherf*****g a**,’ said anjanakandhan.
Others jumped to defend Liam saying he was there to support Niall and it was sweet of him to take time to chat to fans.
‘Can ppl plzz stop hating on liam? all he did was support niall,’ said Anglesfly28.
‘Liam taking his time to show his appreciation to his fans and even supporting Niall and yet still getting lots of hate on it, since when being a nice person is a “jobless” behavior???’ asked pancakesforhalo.

Ahead of the gig, Liam revealed that was set to reunite with Niall in Argentina and planned to ‘square’ away a few things.
‘Niall Horan is playing down there and I think we might just go down there to say “helloooo,” he said on his Instagram story.
‘Um, it’s been a while since me and Niall have spoken, we’ve got a lot to talk about. And I would like to square up a couple of things with the boy.’
Emphasising that there is no bad blood between them, the singer added: ‘No bad vibes or anything like that but we need to talk.’
It’s unclear if Liam and Niall chatted after the concert, or if they did indeed manage to ‘square’ anything away.

In 2022, Liam took part in the Impaulsive podcast with Logan Paul and made some controversial comments about his former bandmates as he suggested that he and Louis Tomlinson ‘hated’ each during One Direction fame.
He also claimed that he was ‘thrown up against a wall’ by a fellow bandmate, and told them: ‘If you don’t remove those hands there’s a high likelihood you’ll never use them again.’
Additionally, he said of former bandmate Zayn Malik: ‘There’s many reasons why I dislike Zayn and there’s many reasons why I’ll always, always be on his side.’

This isn’t the first time that members of One Direction have reached out to support one another since the band split.
Harry Styles snuck into Niall’s show in Manchester earlier this year and could be seen enjoying the music as he danced with his mother in the VIP box.
Niall has been snapped attending Harry’s Love on Tour concert and Louis has also been seen supporting Niall at one of his tours in the past.
Niall’s international concert tour The Show: Live on Tour began in Belfast in February 2024 and is set to conclude in Bogotá, Colombia in October 2024.
