DWI Charge For Bergen County Man In Crash With Elderly Pair
NORTH JERSEY, NJ — A Bergen County man has been charged with driving while intoxicated, prosecutors said Friday, after his SUV slammed into an elderly couple's car.Steven Reyes, 45, of Fairview was traveling north on Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen on Thursday afternoon when he struck aVolkswagen traveling south, before colliding with a Hyundai, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.The driver of the Hyundai, a 73-year-old North Bergen woman, and her passenger, a 90-year-old North Bergen man, were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Both were hospitalized in stable condition late in the week, prosecutors said.Reyes was arrested by the North Bergen Police Department and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, prosecutors said.The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are investigating, prosecutors said.
