The New York Knicks are massive favorites over the upstart Detroit Pistons in Round 1 of the 2025 NBA playoffs.
The Knicks currently sit at -380 to win the series, the second-biggest favorite among the non-No. 1 seeds.
Detroit came out of nowhere to win 44 games this season, but it’s far from a fluke, and it may signal that the Knicks will have a bit more trouble than oddsmakers are expecting.

The Pistons handled this matchup during the regular season, going 3-1 in four contests, although injuries played a major role for the Knicks in those games.
Detroit’s star player, Cade Cunningham, dominated the Knicks during the regular season, averaging 30.8 points on 56.3 percent shooting and 52 percent from 3, with five rebounds and 8.3 assists.

The Knicks’ opponent can be mistaken for a young team, but the Pistons’ roster is actually riddled with veteran talent that includes Tobias Harris, Dennis Schroder, Malik Beasley, and Tim Hardaway Jr., who surround Cunningham with some playoff know-how.
These rosters just aren’t close to the same, though.
Aside from Cunningham, the Knicks’ entire starting lineup would be a welcome addition to Detroit’s.
