Public asked to quiz candidates for new North Metro District fire chief
Two men are vying to become the new fire chief to lead the North Metro Fire District and the public is invited to ask the finalists questions from 5-7 p.m. March 12 at North Metro Fire headquarters, 101 Spader Way in Broomfield.The finalists are both veterans of the fire services. Mark Daughety is currently deputy chief of operations for North Metro and Sean Slamon is the fire chief and emergency manager for Carson City, Nevada.One of the two finalists will replace North Metro’s longtime Fire Chief David Ramos, who is retiring this summer. After a thorough recruitment and evaluative process, North Metro’s board narrowed the field of candidates to two finalists, which they announced at the February 25 board meeting.District spokeswoman Sara Farris said in a news release that the March 12 public forum is “to ensure a hiring process that is transparent and inclusive and considers the perspectives of those most affected by the fire chief’s leadership.”At the forum, board members will introduce the finalists and have them answer questions submitted by employees and community members.
