Beverly Residents Urged To Keep Pups Out Of Cemetery
BEVERLY, MA — Beverly Animal Control will be stepping up patrols of Central Cemetery after a recent increase in complaints about dogs being walked where they are not allowed."Cemeteries are not for dogs and as a result are not a good place to walk your dogs," Beverly Animal Control said. "Please respect those laid to rest in these locations and their families by abiding by this rule and finding an appropriate location to walk your dogs. Nearby locations of the Beverly Common and Independance Park welcome leashed dogs year round."Those in violation of the city ordinance are subject to a fine of $100 per dog per offense.Service dogs are exempt from the prohibition.(Scott Souza is a Patch field editor covering Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott.
