Wigan wary of Huddersfield’s ‘almost unplayable’ Jake Connor ahead of Giant task
JAI Field knows exactly what to expect from pal and opponent Adam Clune – the same cannot be said of Wigan boss Matt Peet when it comes to Jake Connor.
The Warriors’ star full back goes head-to-head with his big Huddersfield mate, who he meets regularly where they both live in Manchester.
Matt Peet admits he is ready for Jake Connor to produce his best as Wigan head to HuddersfieldSWPIX.COM
And talk of today’s meeting has been firmly off limits, even though he is happy to see him playing regularly.
Field, who also played youth rugby league with the Giants’ Jack Murchie, said: “Adam’s one of my good mates – we grew up together along with his twin brother, so it’s funny having him over here in Manchester.
“I probably see him once a week – but rugby’s off limits when we play against each other. We won’t give anything away about the game.
“I’d never played against him but I did in round two. Hopefully this time around, it won’t be as strange.
“Adam had a few injuries in his youth career and made his NRL debut late. He’s come over for an opportunity and he’s grabbing it with both hands – but I don’t wish him well today.”
Huddersfield as a team could be placed in the unpredictable bracket, although Wigan boss Matt Peet refuses to.

However, their full back Connor is certainly in that category as he said: “I prepare for the best of Jake – he showed at Catalans a few weeks ago that if he has his best day against you, he can be almost unplayable.
“He’s a real X factor player, an outstanding talent – he’s always been that way but if a player like Jake or a team like Huddersfield are to unpick you, it should have to be with a really special piece of play.
“Hopefully that doesn’t happen.”
