Monster Hunter Wilds crowned as Capcom’s fastest-selling game ever

We're already well aware that Monster Hunter Wilds has been a huge sales success. Just one look at the game's record-breaking player count on Steam would tell us that. Now, Capcom has revealed more specific sales numbers, with Monster Hunter Wilds being crowned as the publisher's fastest-selling game ever.
Despite its issues, Monster Hunter Wilds has launched as Capcom's fastest-selling game ever. The game launched last Friday and sold through eight million copies over the weekend, putting it in prime position to eventually overtake Monster Hunter World as Capcom's best-selling game of all time. Currently, Monster Hunter World sits at 28 million copies sold, outselling every other Capcom title individually, although franchises like Resident Evil have sold more copies across the whole series.
Speaking on the sales milestone, a Capcom spokesperson said: “Monster Hunter Wilds has evoked massive excitement and achieved sales of 8 million units in 3 days, the fastest any game has done so in Capcom’s history. Capcom remains firmly committed to satisfying the expectations of all users by leveraging its industry leading game development capabilities in order to create highly entertaining gameplay experiences.”
Currently, Monster Hunter Wilds sits at a ‘mixed' user score on Steam, mostly due to optimisation. The game is far too demanding to run on many GPUs and the graphics don't quite justify the level of performance required. The fact that Capcom put Frame Generation in its recommended PC system requirements has many thinking that Capcom is relying on those technologies to save on additional development time.
Capcom has not yet mentioned any plans to improve the PC performance of the game for a broader range of hardware. It isn't just PC players facing issues, however, as the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game also suffer from low-res texture issues.
