Cult survival horror game Alien: Isolation is finally getting a sequel
Alien: Isolation has been vindicated by history. Released to a split critical reception and underwhelming sales, the 2014 survival horror game has amassed a passionate cult following in the decade since it was released. And now, after more than ten years, Alien: Isolation is getting the sequel it so rightfully deserves.
On Monday, developer Creative Assembly posted a statement on the game’s official X account written by Alistair Hope, the creative director of Alien: Isolation. In addition to commemorating the ten-year anniversary of the game, Hope announced that Creative Assembly is officially working on the long-awaited sequel to Alien: Isolation and that the team would share more details regarding the game in the near future.
Set 15 years after the events of Ridley Scott’s Alien, Alien: Isolation centers on Ellen Ripley’s daughter Amanda, who journeys to a decommissioned space station on a mission to recover the surviving flight recorder from her mother’s ship, the Nostromo. Upon arriving, however, Amanda discovers that the station has become host to a hostile alien lifeform that threatens the lives of everyone on board.
Creative Assembly’s sequel announcement couldn’t be timed any better. Between the recent release of Alien: Romulus, which amassed over $300 million during its worldwide box office run, and Noah Hawley’s upcoming TV series Alien: Earth slated to premiere next year, there’s seldom been a better time to be a fan of the Alien franchise than right now.
