More Changes to the GH Writing Staff
There has been another shakeup in the General Hospital writers’ room. Viewers had already noticed that previous co-headwriter Chris Van Etten was back in the show’s credits as a breakdown writer for the soap. But now the rumors have been confirmed that Patrick Mulcahey is no longer one of the headwriters of GH.
A source for the soap confirmed the news to Soap Opera Digest and said, “There will be more news to share at a later date as to the composition of the new writing team.”
Back in January, it was announced that Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte would be taking over as headwriters of GH from the departing Van Etten and Dan O’Connor. Korte had already been writing for GH since 1995 in various positions, including a run as co-headwriter back in 2001. Mulcahey had previously written for GH as a scriptwriter and associate headwriter from 1983-99 in addition to working on soaps like Search for Tomorrow, Texas, Loving, Guiding Light, The Bold and The Beautiful, and more.
The source also said that material written by the Korte and Mulcahey team would continue to air through about mid-summer. So a noticeable change shouldn’t be apparent until months from now. Keep checking back here at SoapsInDepth.com for future updates on this developing story.
