Beloved Talk Show Host is 90 and Loving Life on the High Seas With Bright Red Hair
Sally Jessy Raphael is soaking up the summer just like the rest of us. The legendary former talk show host, 90, is hitting the high seas and enjoying life on the water. Earlier this week, she shared a photo of herself on Instagram that showed how the journalism legend is embracing summer vibes and loving life these days. "Happy Friday, Raphaelites! I’m serving you sailboat vibes 🥰 #sailboat#sjr#redglasses," Raphael captioned the photo, which showed her sitting on a large sailboat as it coasted through the water. With a musical duo performing behind her, Raphael can be seen dressed in a cute black-and-white dress, sunglasses, and a patterned scarf that's tied around her bright red hair. The chat show icon looked a million miles away from her '80s and '90s repertoire of shoulder pad-filled business suits, pearls, and conservative haircuts. It's safe to say New England loves her back, of course. From July 27 to 29, Thomaston Place Auction Galleries in Maine hosted a summer auction with nearly 200 items from Raphael's personal collection, WMTV reported.It's a nice break from the nonstop grind of her days hosting her iconic talk show, Sally. Back in April, Raphael opened up about how she navigated being a working mother in the world of journalism throughout her career. "Well, there weren't many of us," she told PEOPLE. "Most women in the 50s were stay-at-home moms. And so a working woman was either single or interesting. It was difficult.
