Phil was a guest judge during an episode of the BBC’s Celebrity MasterChef in 2021 as a result of his culinary prowess and expertise.
The entrepreneur has held the reigns of his family’s pie business in recent years and has helped to transform its fortunes.
As a result of his achievement in the culinary world and with the pie-making business, John Torode and Gregg Wallace called on Phil to offer up his expert opinion during Celeb MasterChef.
He was among many critics that the semi-finalists cooked for in hopes of making it through to the next round.
Among the stars who were aiming to impress Phil were singer and reality TV star Megan McKenna, Love Island champ Kem Cetinay, Olympian Kadeena Cox and TV presenter Joe Swash.
Speaking out about his time on the show, Phil said on Instagram: “As a kid Masterchef on a Sunday evening was an absolute banker, our family loved it! Lloyd Grossman was the top Donnie back then….
“Being asked to be an industry expert for the finals week of the celebrity edition a few years back was such an honour and a brilliant experience.
“Just chilling in between scenes having an casual beer with Greg was very surreal.”
Phil went onto share his appreciation and gratitude for all the opportunities he has managed to bag off the back of his “humble beginnings”.
He added: “I genuinely never thought that so many amazing experiences and opportunities would have come out of such humble beginnings.
“I’ve found posting to be a great way for me to reflect and actually have gratitude for the things and memories I do have rather than always focusing the next ‘thing’.”
Phil recently lost out to Rachel Woolford on the BBC contest after making it all the way to the final.
he had raised eyebrows throughout the contest after sailing through more than 10 rounds without ever winning a weekly task.
It puts him as having one of the worst track records among any Apprentice candidate ever despite managing to reach second place.

Speaking to the BBC about his time on The Apprentice, and being a finalist he said: “It’s not been the easiest journey but I’ve held my head high and kept going each week.
“Now I’m ready to give it one more shot to show that Lord Sugar was right to see something in me and that I can be his next business partner.”
During the grueling interview stage of the show, he concerned Lord Sugar’s advisers with his lack of numbers in his business plan.
He was also grilled by Mike Soutar over the date he claims his business was established and was accused of “lying to customers”.
