Motorcyclist Seriously Hurt In Southington Crash: Police
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local police are investigating a two-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle Sunday night that seriously injured the motorcycle's 66-year-old rider.According to the Southington Police Department Monday morning, at about 10:47 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to South Main and Mulberry streets for a report of a motor vehicle versus motorcycle collision with injuries.Police said a 66-year-old motorcyclist was operating a 2003 Yamaha XVS1100 motorcycle southbound on South Main Street.According to the SPD, at the same time, a 34-year-old male was operating a 2013 Nissan Xterra northbound on South Main Street.Police said the Nissan began a left turn onto Interstate 84 East when the two vehicles collided in the southbound lane of South Main Street, near the I-84 on-ramp.According to the SPD, the rider of the motorcycle "appeared to have suffered significant injuries" and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury for treatment.
