Obituary: Roger ‘Marc’ Dupont, 64, Of Hamden
HAMDEN, CT — (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home): Roger “Marc” Dupont, 64, of Hamden, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, April 27, 2024 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.Born in Norwich, CT, May 29, 1959 to Roger L. Dupont and Gilberte (Vallee), he was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Keith Dupont, and nephew, Jay Dupont. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Colleen Kelly Dupont, son Terrence K. Dupont (Elizabeth), brother Eric Dupont (Kimberly) and sister, Stephanie Schwab (John). He is also survived by his cherished granddaughters Madison, Evelyn, and Allison; brothers-in-law John, Joe, Dan, Carl, Kevin, and Sean; sisters-in-law Sheila, Eileen, Maureen, Christine, Deb, and Jenn; many nieces and nephews; and Gracie, his K-9 companion.Marc was employed for over 30 years at Sikorsky in the technology department. He was a member of St. Paul VI Parish and the Light of Christ Prayer Group.In high school, Marc was faced with his first life threatening health condition requiring spinal surgery followed by radiation. Despite experiencing significant physical limitations from this treatment, he finished high school and college, married the love of his life, raised a beloved son, and enjoyed many years with his cherished granddaughters.With a zest for life and a love for adventure, he and Colleen traveled in RVs to many national and state parks. He faced all life’s challenges with faith in God’s goodness and with courage and determination to succeed. His hope-filled attitude and positive mindset were an inspiration to all. His wry sense of humor kept everyone smiling.In the late summer of 2022, Marc faced his second life threatening medical condition, brain cancer. He faced this new challenge with the same faith, courage, determination and humor that marked his life. After surgery and radiation, he continued to work remotely at his job until his passing.During his time battling cancer, he found much joy and peace visiting with family, friends, and coworkers. He delighted sitting outside in the warm sun in the summer and inside by the wood stove in the winter. Daily, he fervently prayed for God to sustain him in his trials and he offered up his hardships for others facing life’s difficulties. He was quick to share his faith with anyone who would listen.Marc was committed to promoting the independence of all people regardless of their needs. To do this he helped to establish a Business Resource Group within Sikorsky called Ables and Allies. Under Marc's leadership, the Group attracted the support of upper management and became so successful that it was adopted by Lockheed Martin, Sikorsky's parent organization.Through Marc's efforts, Able and Allies has become a highly successful Employee Resource Group which supports Lockheed Martin's employees with disabilities, employees who have children with disabilities and employees who are caregivers for disabled family members through a variety of programs and initiatives.Marc was passionate about Disability Inclusion in the workplace and served as an active Board Member of Disability;IN Connecticut, the Connecticut Affiliate of the global Disability:IN where he also served as the Chair of the Mentoring Committee. Marc believed in the power of mentoring and served as a mentor for the Disability:IN NextGen program. He represented Lockheed Martin/Sikorsky and Disability:IN Connecticut at the Disability:IN Annual Conference. Marc was always looking for ways to help people.Marc was also an active member of the Hamden Disability Rights and Opportunities Commission.
