Hypebeast Flea New York Vendor Spotlight: Streicher Goods
Ahead of Hypebeast Flea New York on May 18 and 19, Hypebeast is spotlighting each of the event's more than 30 vendors by giving an overview of their practice, their inspirations, and what they plan to bring to the event. Hypebeast Flea New York is free to attend — RSVP HEREDesign studio Streicher Goods lights up Brooklyn interiors with its playful ceramic offerings. Founded by Ethan Streicher in 2019, the brand is known for its best-selling gradient table lamps and checkered mushroom lights, but its product lineup goes beyond those that require a bulb. The designer’s handcrafted vases are inspired by everything from tequila decanters to beach waves, and his colorful catchall trays offer a more affordable entry point for the brand’s fans. With more than a decade of industry experience under his belt, Streicher has begun to explore possibilities off the potter’s wheel as well, introducing ballsy “Grandfather” wall clocks and extension-cord lamps. As time went on, I found more joy at the studio playing with clay than sitting behind a computer, so I decided to quit my job and pursue my artistic and ceramic endeavors! Streicher Goods is now a design studio in Brooklyn, NY with a focus on ceramic lighting and homewares. The mission of Streicher Goods is to enhance the human experience through artful design, blurring the lines between art and functionality. Currently, it's just me making everything, so it's been a lot, but so satisfying and rewarding. What about New York inspires you the most?I feel like the energy of being here is the thing the inspires me the most — being around people who are pushing the envelope, living a fast lifestyle, and being open to new things each day. The bustle of NYC is definitely one that drives me a little crazy or gives me anxiety at times, but also pushes me and my work forward. Gotta ride the waves as they come! What have you got planned at Hypebeast Flea?I'm planning to create some new smaller table lamps for the market :) I'll also be showcasing my newest creation, the grandfather clock, alongside various hand-made ceramic homewares ranging from lamps to ashtrays to cups and other small home goods. What other vendors are you looking forward to checking out at Hypebeast Flea? There are so many good ones! The ones I'm looking forward to seeing are:Extra Vitamins: Definitely want to grab some of their psychedelic type shirts. The Series: While the weather maybe warming up, I can always use some sick knit scarves for next fall and winter!Lichen: Such amazing home goods! Haven't had a chance to see stuff in person, so that'll be great. Need to get some stuff for my new home office.Head Hi: I'd love to meet the Head Hi folks! I'm a big fan of the Head Hi lamp show (which I submitted to this year, fingers crossed).
