MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.From May 9 to 15 there were:680 calls for service15 arrests22 traffic collisions41 crime reports takenNotable Incidents:On May 10, officers were sent to Sand Dune Park in response to reports of graffiti. At the park, police saw a black spray-painted symbol that resembled a swastika on a tree on an access path at the top of the park. Patrol officers investigated and requested Public Works staff remove the symbol.On May 11, police once again responded to a graffiti report at Sand Dune Park to find a swastika spray painted on a walking path at the top of the park.On May 12, police responded to a report of an e-bike theft at 30th Street and The Strand. Police located two men in the area of Imperial Highway and Vista Del Mar by a bus stop, but one suspect fled on an e-bike before the officer could stop him. The second suspect was detained without incident. When officers attempted to detain the second suspect, who was riding the stolen e-bike, he swallowed an unknown amount of fentanyl. The man was taken to a hospital and the e-bike was returned to the victim.On May 13, police responded to a burglary at the Goodwill in the 1100 block of Artesia Boulevard. An employee told police that they discovered a 2-foot glass break on the west side of the building and damage to a door. Surveillance video showed a suspect using a crowbar to attempt to pry the door open and smash the window panel. Video showed the suspect reaching through the door and taking a bedspread and multiple bags of clothing before leaving.On May 14, police responded to a burglary at the Big Wok Restaurant in the 900 block of Sepulveda Boulevard. The north-facing window to the business was shattered, police said. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived and nothing was stolen from the restaurant, according to police.On May 15, police responded to a robbery at Target in the 1200 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard. An employee was taking a PlayStation 5 from a locked case when a suspect pushed them, causing the employee to drop the PlayStation. The suspect picked up the gaming console and ran from the store.
