Pima County Announces Commencement of Road Work on Moore Road from Sept. 16 to Nov. 11
Starting Monday, Sept. 16, Pima County drivers should be on the lookout for road work along Moore Road from Thornydale Road to La Cholla Boulevard. Pima County Department of Transportation and its contractor, Granite Construction, Inc., will be initiating a series of repairs as part of the county's ongoing commitment to road maintenance.
According to Pima County's announcement, the project is scheduled to run through Monday, Nov. 11, and will span from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The scope of work involves not just the smoothing over of roadway scars, but setting up traffic control, getting down and dirty with utility work, stripping asphalt, grading, providing new pavement, and finishing with pavement marking.
Travelers are advised that turn movements may be restricted within the project limits. So, if you're the type to weave in and out of roads, hoping to shave seconds off your commute – plan to leave earlier. Those navigating the area will be under the guidance of flaggers and pilot car operation, maintaining order and safety through the construction zone.
Unexpected events, such as a mechanical hiccup or the whims of weather, could shift the timeline of construction, but as for now, the schedule is set. The roadwork is a part of a larger, more ambitious $24 million Road Pavement Repair and Preservation Program, backed by the Pima County Board of Supervisors and Transportation Department for Fiscal Year 2024/2025 to keep the arteries of our community flowing without the impediments of disrepair.
