Emmerdale’s Beth Cordingly is going on holiday, but she’s not entirely ready to relax just yet.
The actress, who arrived in the ITV soap as Ruby Fox-Miligan earlier this year, recently shared two pictures on her Instagram enjoying a small glass of red wine while on a plane.
In the caption, Beth explained she is more than ready to enjoy her time away from the soap, but she’s currently on ‘high alert’ about her child.
‘Ruby’s going on holiday. Hurrah!’, she wrote.

‘Lucky Ruby. I am going home. Lucky, lucky me. (Although my child is still on her no-contact-residential so my state of high alert has not yet relaxed.) I suspect Ruby and I will need the same amount of these red drinks to stop our brains from overthinking and to CALM DOWN.
‘Shhhh! Says the wine. Just like the sea. Shhh. Shhhhhh. Shhhhhhhhhh.’
Many of Beth’s followers took to the comments section to share kind messages ahead of her trip away. One fan wrote: ‘Enjoy your time off Beth!! Love Ruby she’s hilarious 😂begging you to stay in emmerdale❤️’, while another echoed these comments and said: ‘Enjoy your break. Beth you are an amazing actress, I just love Ruby x’

Beth’s character Ruby is facing a stressful and emotional ordeal right now after son Nicky (Lewis Cope) was involved in a car crash.
Feisty, brash Ruby isn’t afraid of speaking her mind, especially when she has a few glasses of wine inside her, and her savage put-downs and witty one-liners mean she’s huge fun to watch.
‘In my head I always think she’s a bit like Gloria in Modern Family,’ Beth Cordingly told us, referring to the lovable and loud character portrayed by Sofia Vergara in the comedy series.
‘It’s one of the things in my head for that kind of impulsive action,’ she added.
‘She’s so different to me in the way that I would react to things, but you always have to find justification and the logic of the character.’

Beth told us she loves playing the character and it takes her back to another role she played when Ruby reveals her ‘teenage’ side.
‘I remember when I played Sara in Family Affairs, this Channel 5 soap years and years ago, she was this tearaway teenager who was very badly behaved and I remember thinking, “I’m just going to have to show the side of me that only my mum sees – that kind of [screeches] side of you”. And I have to do that with Ruby as well sometimes.
‘It’s always fun to play those kind of parts.’
