EastEnders star Shona McGarty is swapping the soaps for Strictly Come Dancing, according to reports.
The Whitney Dean actress confirmed she’ll be leaving Albert Square after 15 years, with her exit scene coming very soon.
And it looks like Shona, 32, is looking to join the upcoming series of Strictly after being previously approached but declining the offer back in 2021.
A source shared: ‘Shona would be a great fit for the show. She’s a real favourite with soap fans, as well as being incredibly bubbly and good fun. She is also a big fan of Strictly but when she was approached for it the first time, she was really worried it might be too much for her.’
They added to The Mirror: ‘A few years on, she is a lot more confident and the timing is better, because she won’t have to juggle the show with her commitments to EastEnders.’
Shona previously admitted that she rejected Strictly as ‘my anxiety got the better of me, and I thought I would be too nervous to do a live show.’

Whitney’s chance of happiness has been slowly spiralling ever since her fiancée Zack Hudson (James Farrar) found out that she had used savings for their unborn baby to buy custody of troubled teen Britney Wainwright (Lola Campbell), a girl from Bianca Jackson’s (Patsy Palmer) estate.
In retaliation, he headed to Peggy’s to drown his sorrows and ran into Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) – and slept with her!
It wasn’t long before Bianca found out and threatened to expose the fling, but was thrown when Whitney proposed to Zack.
This week, at their joint stag and hen do, things take a horrific turn when the women end up locked in Bianca’s taco van, and Whit goes into labour…
Explaining how Lauren feels in the heat of the moment, actress Jacqueline said: ‘There are so many different thoughts going through her mind. The first is that she has to try to keep Whitney calm, and the second is that they need to get out of there because they don’t want Whitney to have a baby in a taco van.
‘There’s also the horrible thought that she might deliver Whitney’s baby, having slept with her fiancé. But ultimately, all she cares about is Whitney and the baby’s safety.’
