Justice League's Zack Snyder in talks to make a TV show based on Frank Miller's 300
Frank Miller’s history lessons might be about to become appointment viewing, with the news that Warner Bros. Television is reportedly developing a television series based on the writer/artist’s Spartan historical drama 300.
The series is in “early development,” with Zack Snyder — who co-wrote and directed the 2006 movie based on Miller’s work — said to be in negotiations to act as executive producer on the show, as well as potentially director. Snyder’s Stone Quarry production house would be in the mix if the show moves forward, with Snyder’s wife, Deborah Snyder, and production partner Wesley Coller on board the project.
No writer is attached to the project at this stage, nor are plot details available, although Variety reports that the show “would serve as a prequel” to the movie; in that case, it might lift material from Miller’s Xerses: The Fall of the House of Darius and Rise of Alexander, a 2018 graphic novel that acted as both prequel and sequel to his original comic book. Early work on Xerses had already been used as source material for 300: Rise of an Empire, the official 2014 follow-up to Snyder’s 300 adaptation.
