Is Wind Breaker Anime Worth Watching?

The anime and manga industry going mainstream has helped countless manga artists gain worldwide fame. Previously, Western countries were only treated to popular anime like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, etc., but now they can explore their favorite genre. With tons of anime and manga available online, people can have their preferences instead of depending on others.
There are several popular anime in the modern generation that have made a massive name for themselves. Wind Breaker is one of the recent anime that aired in 2024. Even though the anime has received positive reviews, fans want to know more about the anime and have been constantly asking whether it will be worth their while. Everyone prefers an honest opinion before commitment.

Most of the Shonen anime revolves around a powerful protagonist who is yet to reach their full potential. By coming in contact with a few people, they form a bond, which further motivates them to achieve something in life. The story often concludes with the protagonist facing off against the main antagonist. However, Wind Breaker is nothing like the typical Shonen anime. Even though the idea is not so new, Satoru Nii could not have picked a better time for Wind Breaker.

The story follows Haruka Sakura, whose lack of social skills and unorthodox looks landed him the outcast treatment. Having received harsh treatment from an early age, he found solace in fighting. Being a skilled fighter, he enrolled at Furin High School, where strength was given more preference than academics. Sakura thought it to be the only place he could be himself, but fate had other things in store for him.

Even though the students did value strength over academics, it was for a greater reason. It completely changed Sakura’s view. Unlike other Shonen anime, there are no superpowers and only includes hand-to-hand combat. If someone gets bored of the same typical plot, they can give Wind Breaker a try. The adventure and martial arts genre anime will deliver more than what the watcher expects. An adrenaline rush feels great, but once in a while, a feel-good anime can also do the trick.

Wind Breaker manga began in 2021 and is currently ongoing with 18 volumes. Satoru Nii’s creation was recently adapted into an anime, with the first season having 13 episodes. The idea of brute strength getting preference over academics is not a new concept. Assassination Classroom and Beelzebub are two of the anime that have already ventured this path. However, Wind Breaker does a better job with Haruka Sakura as the lead.

It gives a different vibe, and fans won’t be disappointed with the pace of the plot. It feels perfect, with great supporting characters and good animation. Somewhere, it might feel a bit stretched out. Moreover, people who are only interested in fights might feel a little bored during other times. Along with positives, there will always be negatives, but that does not prevent Wind Breaker from being one of the most enjoyable anime of 2024.
Wind Breaker is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
