NC State official visit preview: 4-star SF Bryce Heard
After NC State gained a commitment from shooting guard RJ Greer last week, the Wolfpack’s Class of 2025 recruiting is full steam ahead. Now, the Pack will host 4-star small forward Bryce Heard for an official visit, starting Sunday in Raleigh.
The Pack has at least seven scholarships remaining on the 2025-26 roster, and Heard is the second recruit to take an official visit this summer, joining Greer in that department.

Where does NC State stand?
NC State has been in heavy pursuit of Heard for quite some time now. The Wolfpack has made an effort to stand out in his recruitment, which is on a national scale with programs from all Power Six conferences courting Heard for his services on the basketball court. NC State appears to be towards the top of his recruitment at the moment as his second official visit.
Heard’s thoughts on the Wolfpack
“They have a commitment to me which is really standing out,” Heard told On3’s Jamie Shaw. “They came out to my high school a couple of times this season. I think they came to watch me play like three times. I have a good connection with them, and they have a good connection with my parents. They have a good family feel over there.”
Who are the other teams to watch?
Heard is working on setting up visits with BYU, Iowa and Xavier. He’s a highly-sought after recruit in the Class of 2025 and more visits are in the works for Heard. He also has offers from several high-major programs around the country, including Arkansas, LSU, St. John’s, USC and Villanova among others.
Is he on commit watch?
Not quite yet. It’s early in Heard’s recruitment and he will take more visits after leaving Raleigh. The Wolfpack, though, can take a commanding lead in his recruitment. Heard would like to commit before his high school season begins this winter.
Scouting notes
Heard is an aggressive wing that can play above the rim, while also driving in the paint. Though he’s able to get to the basket, Heard can knock down shots from all over the floor as well. The three-level scorer can also defend at a high level. Heard would likely be able to make an impact during his freshman year at NC State if he were to commit to the Wolfpack.
