After Berating Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb Fires Shot at Mike Florio & Co. For ‘Counting Out’ Cowboys Against Steelers
The Dallas Cowboys’ shock 20-17 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday has Cowboys fans flying sky-high. The win hasn’t quite put them back on track to making the playoffs, with the Washington Commanders still 4-1. But it bolstered their confidence and seems to almost have them acting like a team that’s in Super Bowl contention. And a team that’s trying to get to the Super Bowl cannot afford to make mistakes. CeeDee Lamb made that very clear after Dak Prescott threw an interception in the middle of the Steelers game. He wasted no time in berating him right on the field, yelling at him.
But he brought that same passion the moment the game came close. Lamb ran off the field, yelling to the cameras, “They counted us out; I guess they can’t count!” This was, of course, about the general skepticism that the Dallas Cowboys would be able to pull a win against the Steelers. The Steelers had a lot of people batting for them, especially after their strong season start, going 3-0. But with two wins on the trot, that flame seems to have died down somewhat.

Of the people who gave the Cowboys no chance of winning, there are a couple of big names. Mike Florio, commentator for NBC, and Jason Garrett, former head coach for the Cowboys. The thing is, Cowboys fans weren’t surprised to hear Garrett favored the Steelers. If anything, they were annoyed he got extra airtime when the game suffered a rain delay. But leave that aside, Mike Florio’s been more inflammatory. It’s almost like he’s got a personal beef against Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys.
Florio has gone on record saying the Steelers are “cheap and shortsighted, not as smart as they think they are.“ Something like that’s got to sting, even for a player when he’s talking about management. Florio wrote off the Cowboys, citing a stingy owner, and claimed they were a “cheap team” wearing boots that didn’t fit. And while fans themselves have taken issue with Jones’ persona or the way he treated Lamb and Dak Prescott, they still support the Cowboys. They still think they can win it all this year.
This win was both vindication for the Dallas Cowboys and a wake-up call for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Will the Steelers answer?
Is it time for the Steelers to switch quarterbacks?
The quarterbacks’ matter has been a sensitive one for the Pittsburgh Steelers since day one. Former Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson was meant to come in as Mike Tomlin’s “Pole Position” for the role at the start of the season. Younger talent Justin Fields was to be given game time and developed, but more passively. Of course, an injury saw the end of Wilson’s hopes of playing starting quarterback, and Fields took over the role. The understanding was that it would be a temporary arrangement, but then Fields began to excel in the role, with many questioning the need to replace him.
That was, of course, until recently. With Wilson nearly recovering from his injury and Fields not having been up to the mark for the last two games, is it time for a change? Commentators are still hesitant to support such a move. While Wilson has an excellent record and brings valuable experience, a switch would be a short-term solution. In Justin Fields, they have a talent who could evolve into a fixture with the side. One of the big names. Wilson isn’t even on a multi-year contract, and unless they extend him, he won’t be coming back for them next year.
It’s an open secret that Russell Wilson is desperate for game time. The man wants to play at the highest level, and he’ll go anywhere that lets him do that. It’s not unlikely the Steelers will test the waters with him in games to come, and Wilson will quickly jump at the opportunity. Looks like the quarterback rivalry isn’t over yet.
