Florida is trending for one of the top playmakers this cycle
Official visits are wrapping up for elite playmaker Vernell Brown III. He has taken visits to Ohio State, Miami, Florida and Florida State over the last few weeks and there is starting to be some separation at the top.
Back early in the spring, the buzz was around Ohio State. As we got deeper into the spring, the Buckeyes faded and the race started to shift toward the in state schools for the four-star wide receiver out of Orlando Jones.
Miami has been viewed as third on this list for Brown based on intel. The Hurricanes showed him a great time on his official visit and the Hurricanes remain a factor, but Florida and Florida State still have a little more buzz around them.
Mike Norvell’s staff has the No. 35 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking on campus this weekend and they are making a strong final pitch to him and his family. The connections are real in Tallahassee, and the Seminoles are still a school to watch, but the connections run a little deeper in Gainesville.
With a decision expected before his senior season, we like Florida’s position best. The picture has been painted the last couple of months that Florida and Florida State had pulled ahead.
Brown has multiple connections to Florida. Billy Napier, Billy Gonzales and the staff have done an excellent job recruiting the family and while a final decision has yet to be made, after official visits, the Gators are trending.
