Camryn Manheim Is Leaving 'Law & Order' After 3 Seasons
Law & Order is losing a lieutenant after next week's season finale. Camryn Manheim, who plays Lieutenant Kate Dixon, is exiting the series after three seasons, Variety reports. Manheim joined the series when it was revived in 2022 as successor to Lieutenant Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson), who starred on the original series from Season 4 to Season 20, and is exiting just after the iconic procedural hit 500 episodes. Her departure is just the latest in a long line of shake-ups in the three seasons since the show was revived. Earlier this season, Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) retired as DA and was replaced by Nick Baxter (Tony Goldwyn). At the end of last season, Detective Frank Cosgrove (Jeffrey Donovan) left and was replaced by Junior Detective Vincent Riley (Reid Scott), after Detective Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) was brought in to replace Kevin Bernard (Anthony Anderson). Dixon recently dealt with a case that became unexpectedly personal when it involved a student in her son's class of deaf children. While her son Patrick (Joey Caverly) tried to protect his student, Dixon had to testify that the girl had lied under oath to keep her single, homeless father out of prison, and it was clearly not her proudest moment.Related: What Happened When Tony Goldwyn Made His 'Law & Order' Debut As the New DAManheim actually began her career with an appearance on Law & Order, and played three separate minor characters in Seasons 1, 3 and 4 before being cast as Kate Dixon for Season 21. In a statement posted by Variety, Law & Order creator Dick Wolf thanked Manheim for "her three wonderful seasons helping us relaunch Law & Order. She is a class act, and I wish her nothing but the best for her next chapter." Her last episode airs Thursday, May 16 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Next, 'Law & Order' Renewed for Season 24
