Georgia Native Vincent Hancock Wins Historic Olympic Gold

Vincent Hancock won his fourth Olympic gold in Men’s Skeet, and then later in the games earned a silver in the Mixed Team Skeet competition.
Eatonton native Vincent Hancock has been in the pages of GON since he was a teen shotgun phenom more than two decades ago when GON sponsored and followed the emerging Lake Oconee Shotgun Team. Now 35 years old, Vincent just won an unprecedented fourth Olympic gold medal in Men’s Skeet at the 2024 Paris games. It was a gold-silver sweep for the Americans in Paris as Vincent edged out Conner Prince, of Texas, who is coming home with the silver medal.
Vincent earned his first gold in 2008 with an Olympic record performance, and then repeated in 2012 to become the first-ever, two-time gold medal winner in Olympic Men’s Skeet. He earned his third gold in the 2020 Olympics.
Vincent was winning competitions before he turned 13 and then quickly excelled and rose to international elite status as a teenager. Vincent won a 2005 world championship in Italy when he was just 16 years old. Even before the 2024 Paris Olympics, Vincent Hancock was one of the most decorated shooters in the history of the sport. The addition of a fourth individual gold and a silver in the mixed team event only solidifies his legendary status. Vincent partnered with Austen Jewell Smith to earn silver in the Mixed Team Skeet Shooting event, which pairs a man and woman two-person team.
Vincent’s fourth Olympic gold medal makes him one of just seven Olympians in history to earn at least four gold medals in an individual event. The other Americans on the list are Carl Lewis (long jump), Michael Phelps (200m swimming medley), Katie Ledecky (800 meter freestyle swimming) and Al Oerter (discus).
