Inside Gwyneth Paltrow & Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s Reported Feud Back in the 90s

Apparently, 90s It-girl Gwyneth Paltrow was beloved by everyone, except for one other 90s it-girl: Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
In Amy Odell’s new book, Gwyneth: The Biography, she claimed, via InStyle, that there was a bit of a rivalry between the two. In the early 1990s, Paltrow and the Calvin Klein offices were like two peas in a pod: always together. While everyone loved them, Bessette allegedly wasn’t a fan.

Odell claimed that Bessette, who worked as a publicist for them from 1988 to 1992, was “irked” by Paltrow’s demeanor. Odell said, “When there were pictures of Gwyneth in the papers, Bessette, who viewed her as ‘little miss perfect,’ would make cutting remarks about her.”

Now, this comes as a bit of a shock for numerous reasons. For one thing, Carole Radizwell wrote in her memoir What Remains that Bessette was the mom friend that everyone needed at work, especially at Calvin Klein. “One of her responsibilities at the shows is to manage the models. They are constantly, it seems, in crisis,” she said. “She is mother to them all, calm and ready with answers.”
Also, Bessette had some A-list pals. She was often seen at events for Calvin Klein with stars like Friends star Jennifer Aniston, Kate Moss (also known as her former neighbor), and Kelly Klein, to name a few. So, it’s clear that something about Paltrow allegedly didn’t sit right with the late fashion icon.
