I swear by a £2 laundry buy to get rid of soap scum on my glass shower screen in seconds – you don’t even have to scrub
IT’S unfortunately a given in the shower.
So many people have had to resort to expensive cleaners – and a whole load of elbow grease – to try and get rid of the soap scum on their glass screens.

But there’s a new method homeowners are swearing by, that’s purse friendly and SO much easier.
And you’ll find it in the laundry section of the supermarket rather than the cleaning one, as it’s tumble dryer sheets.
One woman took to Reddit to share pictures of her shower screen both before and after trying out the hack, as she titled her post: “Dryer sheets are THE move!”
“Filled our dinky bin cleaning all 3 sides of our shower panels!!!” she added.
“Night and day difference!!!”
She then went into further detail about how she’d used the sheets to clean the screen.
“I just drenched each dryer sheet scrubbed (didn’t have to scrub hard AT ALL) until there was a lot of soapy build up (on either the shower panel or the sheets themselves),” she said.
“Rinsed off with water, then repeated until there was less soapy streaks every time I scrubbed.
“Once I was happy I rinsed the panels off and dried the panels with a towel!”
But she added: “I think there will always be a bit soapiness left behind from the sheet itself (if not, then I still have soap scum on my panels lol)”.
And she’s not the only one to have had impressive results from the hack.
“I’ve struggled getting hard water spots out of the glass on my newly (4 years ago) redone bathroom,” another wrote on Reddit.
“I missed the opportunity to ceramic coat the inside glass in the beginning and after 4-5months in, I’ve had water scale happen.
“I did the whole squeegee process and yeah it helped but the pesky spots by the handle where always a nuisance using the squeegee was impossible to get everything.
“I read a post on here that said try the fabric softener sheet hack and OMG. Night and day difference in one 10min application.
“I was blown away.

Another person then commented on the post to reveal the “science” behind the hack.
“The dryer sheets mentioned contain ‘dialkylester dimethyl ammonium methosulfate’ as the primary chemical agent,” they wrote.
“This is an acidic chemical with a PH value about the same as white vinegar.
“It’s also the main chemical in a wide range of fabric softeners which is why you can usually just use vinegar instead to soften.
“So it is literally working by using an acid based chemical to remove the limescale.”
