President Donald Trump's doctor released an official memo regarding the commander-in-chief's health on Sunday after he underwent an annual physical on Friday.
Why It Matters
Trump has placed great emphasis on his physical health, especially during his 2024 presidential campaign in which he contrasted himself against the older Joe Biden. He started his second term as the oldest person inaugurated as president at 78 years and 220 days old, and will turn 79 in June.
Trump's exams during his first administration raised concerns, especially near the end. His final annual physical in 2020 found him to be obese with elevated blood pressure. U.S. Navy Dr. Sean Conley, Trump's physician at the time, however, declared the president "remains healthy" and had "no significant changes to report" from his previous annual physical.
The president is not required to release the results of his annual physical exam, according to the Associated Press. President Richard Nixon was the first modern president to publicize his medical exam, which has since then become customary practice.

What To Know
Trump underwent his annual physical on Friday, April 11, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center under the care of Captain Sean Barbabella, who serves as the president's physician.
Barbabella shared the following details from the physical, according to the memo emailed to Newsweek by the White House:
"President Trump remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function. His active lifestyle continues to contribute significantly to his well-being."
"President Trump's days include participation in multiple meetings, public appearances, press availability, and frequent victories in golf events. President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State," the memo read.
Trump's "vital statistics" list his height as 75 inches (or 6 feet and 3 inches tall), his weight as 224 pounds, with a resting heart rate of 62 beats per minute and a blood pressure of 128/74. In 2020, he had weighed 244 pounds and had a blood pressure of 121/79.
Examination of his head and chest found no abnormalities, with a normal heart function and normal results for his abdomen. A comprehensive neurological exam revealed "no abnormalities in his mental status, cranial nerves, motor and sensory functions, reflexes, gait, and balance."
"Cognitive function, assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), was normal with a score of 30 out of 30," the memo read. Trump also cleared a screening for depression and anxiety, "with scores within the normal range for both."
Trump had boasted to reporters on Friday following his exam that he "did well" on the cognitive portion and that he "got every answer right."
He added that "the American people want" him to take cognitive tests to prove his capabilities—something for which he routinely criticized former President Biden, demanding he take a cognitive test several times throughout his tenure.
The exam also listed Trump as taking rosuvastatin and ezetimibe for cholesterol control, aspirin for cardiac prevention, and mometasone cream as needed for a skin condition.

What People Are Saying
President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday: "I wanted to be a little different than Biden, I took a cognitive test. And, I don't know what to tell you other than I got every answer right. I took just a lot of different tests, having to do with the heart, having to do with other things, and I think you'll find that I'm—they're gonna release the report on Sunday, I think you'll find it very good."
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican, on Friday wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "President Trump is reporting to Walter Reed for his annual physical. I am sure he will have a great report because I know he is in fantastic shape and is sharp as a tack! However, House Representatives and Senators should have to have physicals as well and the results should be public."
