1 Dead, 1 Hurt After Crash Near Newark Elementary School: Authorities

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A hit-and-run crash in front of a Newark elementary school killed one pedestrian and seriously injured another on Monday night. The alleged driver was arrested after later returning to the scene, authorities say.According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the crash took place around 9 p.m. in front of George Washington Carver Elementary School when a 2014 white Ford Econoline Van struck two women.The driver – later identified as Segundo Carlos Bunay, 33, of Newark – fled after the crash. He later returned to the scene, prosecutors said.Eryn Montgomery, 28, was pronounced dead at University Hospital.
