Jeopardy! fans say Amy Schneider has ‘no chance’ after ‘rough’ Masters semifinal as Yogesh Raut leads Victoria Groce
The JEOPARDY! Masters semifinals began on Friday with Yogesh Raut taking a surprise lead over Victoria Groce, and Amy Schneider unable to even stay afloat.
Ken Jennings hosts the primetime special, which is now down to the wire with its top four players.

Jeopardy! Masters Season 2 roared into its two-night semifinal round on ABC tonight.
James Holzhauer, Amy, and newcomers Victoria and Yogesh have emerged as the semifinalists.
Sadly, Mattea Roach and Matt Amodio didn’t make the cut and were eliminated last episode.
Victoria has been dominating, having only placed second once going in, James is surprisingly “struggling,” and Amy survived over Mattea to make the semis by just 1 point.
But it’s anyone’s game again, as standings were reset, and everyone was back to zero match points.
The four remaining players face each other over four games (two tonight, two Monday), in every combination to determine the final three.
SEMIFINALS 1 – UN-VICTORI-OUS
In Game 1 – James (name in a cryptic font) faced Yogesh and Victoria, a rematch of Masters’ most intense game in the previous round, and Amy sat out.
In their Jeopardy! round, Victoria found the Daily Double and soared to first place with 9800, a buzzer-bashing Yogesh 2600, and a downcast James 3800.
In the interviews, Yogesh flexed his Tournament of Champions friendship bracelet, James a sweet Canada invite from a youngster, and Victoria shouted out her daughter in the audience.
In Double Jeopardy!, Yogesh aced the second Daily Double giving him the lead, and Victoria found the last one betting “just” $3000 as Ken pointed out.
She was correct on the clue from the brutal “Before, During, and After” category but was still in second place.
Going into Final Jeopardy, she had 18,000, Yogesh 24400, and James 13000.
The “Native American Language” clue was, “In 1610 John Smith published a Powhatan Word List including these 2 words familiar to us today, one word in pairs and one wielded.”
James was correct with “Moccasins and Tomahawks” and bet 98.
Victoria was incorrect in writing “Moccasins and Hatchets,” and she looked distraught and dropped to third place.
Yogesh received 3 points for first, James 1 point for second, and Victoria 0 points in her first-ever last-place finish.
“No!!! Victoria!!!! I was rooting for you in the Jeopardy semi-finals!!!” one X user wrote.
“Shocker! Victoria Groce didn’t earn any points,” wrote a second.
“Choking in the masters. Two bad wagers,” wrote a third.
“I need someone to fix Yogesh’s buzzer on Jeopardy Masters,” joked a fourth.
“One of those games that came down heavily to DD’s. James is known immensely for those and he sadly didn’t get any,” lamented a fifth.
“Victoria in 3rd???” wrote one more.
SEMIFINALS 2 – AMY BOMBS OUT
In Game 2, Yogesh faced Victoria and Amy, and James sat out.
While The Queen of The Chase may have fared surprisingly badly in the first game, Amy did worse.
In their Jeopardy! round, Yogesh began by plugging his podcast to select a clue, and Victoria went all-in on the first Daily Double again for 10,000.
Yogesh finished with 4000, Victoria 11000, and Amy -200.
In their interviews, Amy joked about being the new GOAT as she’s doing better than Ken at her New York Times spelling bee streak, Victoria vowed to buy a houseboat, to which Yogesh joked “it will rock.”
In Double Jeopardy!, Yogesh went all-in on the second Daily Double, which the movie fan got instantly as “Network,” tying with Victoria.
Then, Victoria found the last Daily Double again playing it safe with $6000 and acing it to extend her lead.
Going into Final Jeopardy, Yogesh held 13600, Victoria 27200, Amy a staggering -3000
Ken told her she would not answer Final Jeopardy and get zero match points as a giant 0 emerged on her podium before the break.
Final Jeopardy was, “Final Jeopardy! clue: FDR gets credit for implementing this as a concept in the U.S. & the metaphor was used by FDR Jr. running for office in 1966.”
It was a double stumper, as neither got a “safety net,” and Victoria didn’t bet anything, bringing her a huge win, Yogesh 1 point.
Now, Yogesh leads with 4 points, Victoria 3, James 1 and Amy 0.
Ken reminded fans that both bottom two will play twice on Monday so either could still redeem themselves.
“Poor Amy. Victoria and Yogesh are just dominating the buzzer,” another social media user wrote.
“What is going on with Amy” wrote another with a crying emoji.
“Amy might be out in the semifinal,” wrote a third.
“This could be a rough semifinal for Amy,” wrote one more.
“And Amy doesn’t even make it to Final Jeopardy…” wrote a fifth.
“Just a case where because she just couldn’t get in to save the life of her against Victoria and Yogesh, she pretty much had no choice but to take some guesses in order to stay afloat,” wrote a sixth.
“Unfortunately I kinda think there’s basically no chance she makes the finals at this rate, Amy may be good but just simply not in the same league as James, Yogesh and Victoria.”

Victoria – a mere one-day champ from 2005 who mainly honed her skills as The Queen of The Chase – has become the one to beat, stunning fans with her knowledge base.
Reigning champ James, meanwhile, has lost four times, much to everyone’s surprise, and producers are no longer introducing him as “Final Boss” on-air.
This is quite a departure from Masters 2023, when James who only lost once; now he’s “struggling” against pro quizzers Victoria and Yogesh.
Amy just narrowly made it into the semis, and fans thought she has the toughest odds at the finale even before tonight.
The Masters grand prize is $500,000, a glitzy Alex Trebek trophy to honor the late iconic host and the title of Masters Champion.
