‘Bachelorette’ Alum Pleads Guilty To Assault Causing Injury & Unlawful Restraint

A former contestant from The Bachelorette has pled guilty to charges relating to the assault of a 19-year-old college student he all Edgley met last year. The reality TV alum had been arrested back in the summer of 2023 following a police investigation. Notably, this had followed an arrest back in 2022.
The Former Bachelorette Alum Had Entered Guilty Pleas This Past Wednesday
Notably, the former Bachelorette contestant was said to have met pled guilty to charge concerning a 19-year-old student of Blinn College. Reportedly, the contestant met the student last year at Northgate.
The charges included “Assault Causing Bodily Injury” and “Unlawful Restraint.” Reportedly, the reality TV alum entered their guilty pleas this past Wednesday in a Brazos County courtroom.

According to KBTX, the contestant was identified as James McCoy Taylor, a singer and songwriter who previously appeared on The Bachelorette. Taylor had appeared on the show’s 12th season, being eliminated during week 7.
Taylor was reportedly sentenced to 80 hours of community service, with a $750 fine and $350 in court costs. He will also be required to take anger management classes. Taylor is also prohibited from having contact with the victim and was further banned from the Northgate Entertainment District.
According to an arrest report, Taylor was arrested back in August 2023 after a police investigation. He had reportedly met the student in a bar in the Northgate district the previous April. According to a police report, it was claimed he and the woman went to a condominium in Bryan.
The woman later told police she felt uncomfortable and tried to leave. However, she claimed Taylor’s demeanor became “very serious and intense.”
The Contestant Had Also Been Arrested Back In 2022
She had attempted to order an Uber in the bathroom. Upon exiting, she found Taylor nude on the bed. As she opened the front door, however, Taylor allegedly shut it, forcibly kissed her, and pushed her to the ground. It was also claimed that he had groped her before she was able to escape and reach the Uber. According to police, multiple contusions could be seen on the victim’s hip and buttocks.
Taylor initially denied the allegations. Speaking with the publication’s Rusty Surette, he shared, “I would never hurt anybody. I’m nice to every person I meet. That’s my statement. Now go ahead and trash my life because you hate my political stances or for the views you’ll get on TikTok.”

Notably, back in 2022, Taylor had also been arrested in College Station for “Driving While Intoxicated” and “Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.” At the time, it was also noted he was with an 18-year-old “college freshman companion,” who police later claimed wasn’t able to appraise the current situation.
Taylor was found guilty of that case in 2023. In addition to serving five days in a detention center, he was also fined and temporarily lost his license.
