Weekend Recap: Debutant Win as Monster Jam Visits 3 Countries in 1 Weekend

Fans were treated to Monster Jam action in the United States as well as Canada and the United Kingdom last weekend. There was a wide variety of winners, including one driver who won in just his first competition!
London Stadium – London, UK
Eight Monster Jam drivers, four of them in MARVEL trucks, roared into London last weekend for one event on Saturday. There was pressure on Tristan England in JCB DIGatron as it was the first time that the new Monster Jam truck had competed in England, where JCB is based. He came out swinging, winning both the JCB Racing and Skills competitions. However, Charlie Pauken (Megalodon) had finished runner-up in both competitions, and his Freestyle win was enough to give him the overall with an impressive 9.719-scoring run.

PPL Center – Allentown, PA
There was a lot of parity across the three events this weekend in Allentown as six of the eight Monster Jam drivers took home competition wins, and each event had a different Overall Event Champion. Kicking things off on Saturday was Tyler Menninga (Grave Digger) who was denied the afternoon sweep by Loghan Ashline (Monster Mutt Dalmatian) who won Donuts. Saturday evening, it was hometown hero Tony Ochs (ThunderROARus) who pulled off the sweep winning JCB Racing, Skills, Donuts and Freestyle. On Sunday, Jon Zimmer Sr. (UpRoar) won JCB Racing, Brandan Tulachka (Just Get-Er-Done II) won Skills, Ochs won Donuts and Jon Zimmer Jr. (Terminal Velocity) won Freestyle, with the Overall going to the younger Zimmer in Terminal Velocity.

Rogers Place – Edmonton, AB
On paper, the results from Edmonton seem predictable, with Weston Anderson (Grave Digger) sweeping the three Overall Event Championships. However, upon closer inspection there were certainly some big stories to come out of this weekend. Firstly, the weekend kicked off with Monster Jam debutant Carson Williams (Monster Mutt Rottweiler) winning JCB Racing in his first competition! Anderson won Skills and Donuts, while Fernando Martinez (El Toro Loco) took the Freestyle win. Saturday evening, Anderson won everything but Donuts, which went the way of Martinez. However, Anderson believed that Martinez should have won Skills and – had he done so – would have won the Overall as well, and so gave the win to him on the podium. On Sunday, it was Kayla Blood’s time to shine in Sparkle Smash, winning JCB Racing and Donuts and giving Anderson a run for his money, although Anderson was still able to win the night with victories in Skills and Freestyle.
