Future Penn State WR Tyseer Denmark snatches Big 33 MVP honors in Pennsylvania win
It didn’t take long for Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep wide receiver and future Penn State Nittany Lion Tyseer Denmark to establish himself as the best player on the field in the Big 33 Classic on Sunday. Pennsylvania made it a point right away to get Denmark involved, deploying him as a runner, punter returner and even as a passer.
But it was his first touch as a receiver that would give an overmatched Maryland squad an idea of what was to come. Midway through the first quarter, Manheim Township quarterback Hayden Johnson lofted the ball to Denmark on a go route down the left sideline. Denmark went up and over good coverage from future Maryland Terrapins cornerback Kevyn Humes and hauled it in for the game’s first points.
The 21-yard touchdown grab set the stage for a 31-7 Pennsylvania win at Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field. It was the first of three touchdown grabs in an MVP performance for the future Nittany Lion. Denmark finished his final high school game with four catches for 95 yards.
He’s scheduled to land at Penn State for good this summer.
“We’ve been talking a lot,” Denmark told On3’s Ryan Snyder of his pre-enrollment communication with the Nittany Lions. “We’ve been going over formations and doing different Zoom meetings to touch on the different things I need to be ready. I’m just getting ready for all of that stuff and they’ve also been helping me prepare my mind for what’s next.”
Denmark’s second touchdown grab came later in the first quarter. Steel-High quarterback Alex Erby went downfield to Denmark, who was once again matched up with Humes. Denmark made an even better catch than his first touchdown, adjusting and snatching it over the head of the cornerback before strolling into the end zone for a 52-yard hookup.

He would cap the Pennsylvania scoring late in the first half with a third terrific touchdown grab, this time over the middle from Johnson. Denmark also added three punt returns for 52 yards in the game.
He was one of three future Nittany Lions playing in the game for Team Pennsylvania. Imhotep teammate Kenny Woseley had a pair of tackles as the team’s top cover corner and Manheim Central wideout Aaron Enterline, a walk-on who will join the program this summer, had two catches for 68 yards. He also drew a pass interference penalty in the end zone to set up Denmark’s first touchdown.
