Tulsa King Season 2: Taylor Sheridan Series Has Sown the Seeds for a Traitor Inside Team Dwight

Unlike other Taylor Sheridan vehicles, Tulsa King is essentially a series about a 75-year-old man with millennial minions that makes the concept of found family in a world of backstabbing and betrayals charming and cool again. The intensity of high drama in proportion to the underlying comedic tone of the series also makes the Sylvester Stallone drama one of its kind, although the plotlines can really get a little too wound up sometimes.

One such arc that makes the comedy crime drama seem too convoluted is its impulsive inconsistencies with the characters. For instance, if Sheridan wants to incorporate an arc about his characters going through trauma and identity crisis after marinating for too long in a life of crime, then he better do it after a scene involving a full-blown shootout that wiped out an entire outlaw biker gang and not at the sight of a tiny blood smear on a shirt sleeve.
However, a greater wind-up in Tulsa King hints that the series might be geared toward a traitor-in-the-midst storyline considering the direction in which Sheridan is currently heading.

With Season 1 ending in a dramatic shootout and a trip down memory lane that just makes the audience sad about the misled fate of our 75-year-old protagonist, Tulsa King Season 2 has positively taken hold of the situation by going full steam ahead with its character-based drama. Unfortunately, it also means that Armand might be dealt his fair share of misfortune in the episodes ahead.
After the Season 1 finale that established Armand in a somewhat clearer light regarding where his loyalties lie, the audiences expected the storyline to head toward a direction of healing and understanding with the new season. However, Tulsa King Dwight’s behavior toward Armand keeps getting more bitter by the second, which can only make the viewers feel sorry for the latter.
For one, the audiences are divided among themselves due to Dwight’s treatment of Armand. While some fans are taking pleasure in the forced character development of Armand by making him fulfil his obligations and giving him good business opportunities so as to flesh out his storyline, others are of the opinion that Dwight is acting rather tone-deaf about Armand, especially after he has actively tried to repent for his earlier betrayal by taking a bullet during the bar shootout.

On the other hand, there is a chance that Taylor Sheridan might be setting up an entirely different arc for Armand by making his surroundings hostile. This might be the point of origin for him turning against Sylvester Stallone‘s Dwight, making him a well-placed pawn in a game of betrayals that might happen at the most inopportune time for our resident capo turned mob boss.

Armand’s current situation with Dwight and his posse seems to be fraying at the edges and making the viewers exasperated for some kind of resolution. While Armand’s entire arc in Season 1 was focused on his character redemption, Dwight’s continued demands could finally push a vulnerable Armand to erupt, betray Dwight, and get himself killed in the process.

A few others have blatantly relegated Armand’s fate to the train station (as those in Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe would say): “I don’t think Armand makes it out of this season. In the end I don’t think he is going to betray Dwight and it will cost his life.”

While Season 2 has merely begun to flesh out its storylines and it might be too early to draw conclusions, the audience is more than prepared for a more internal showdown in the finale with a major betrayal from one of their own rather than an outside force threatening to burn everything down.
