I Recreated Sydney Sweeney's Met Gala Body Shimmer
The first Monday in May has come and gone, but people have yet to stop talking about their favorite looks from the 2024 Met Gala - me included. From numerous stars opting to show up sans eyebrows to the various takes on the classic french manicure, the beauty moments from the event were bar none. Still, there's one thing that I (and the rest of the internet, it seems) have been wondering: what is it that had everyone's body glistening like that?
While it was Anok Yai's glistening clavicle that broke the internet in 2023, this year, it's Sydney Sweeney's. Not only did her new haircut and color turn heads on the carpet, but so did the gorgeous body shimmer that seemed to jump off of her skin. People quickly flooded the Instagram comments of her makeup artist, Melissa Hernandez, to inquire about the product used, but she's mostly kept mum. Finally, it's been revealed that it was the Eva NYC Kweeen Silver Glitter Spray ($15).
I'm about to get married in a few months and I have been looking for easy ways to add some sparkle to my skin that will withstand the Caribbean heat. The spray seems like the perfect to get that effect, so I decided to try and recreate Sweeney's Met Gala body shimmer and test my theory. Keep reading to see my results.
How to Use the Kweeen Silver Glitter Spray
The spray is extremely easy to use - just a few presses on the nozzle dispense a fine mist of product onto the skin. To get Sweeny's effect, I sprayed just one layer onto my chest and waited for it to dry. The result was a shimmery, almost wet-looking finish that I know without a doubt is going to make me have the most sophisticated shine on my wedding day.
That being said, this spray technically is for your hair and I was quickly reminded of that fact when I noticed that some of the glitter would rub off on my hand when I touched my chest. While a wedding ceremony only lasts a short period, I'd want the shimmer to hold up well into the night for the reception, so I knew it needed reinforcements. My solution? Another setting spray.
I fortified the shimmer using the One/Size On Tip Dawn Waterproof Setting Spray ($34) and this was truly the key to making it budge proof. I rubbed my hands over my chest after it dried and there was no transfer whatsoever. The area did feel a little tight (almost as if there was a film over it), but after a few quick stretches to break it up, I was good as new.
I'm not the biggest fan of face glitter, save for my eyelids, so while Sweeney's Met Gala look took the shimmer up her entire face, I decided to keep mine on the neck and chest, and I loved the results. This spray is absolutely coming with me to my wedding next year, and I may even buy a backup bottle for regular nights out with friends. It's the perfect touch of something extra that will have people begging to know what you have on.
