Lagoon Layer Banandium Gem locations in Donkey Kong Bananza

Banandium Gems are golden bananas scattered around the layers in Donkey Kong Bananza. You’ll find dozens of these collectibles in the Lagoon Layer.
The Lagoon Layer is home to, well, a lagoon, and to the wise Kong Elder. Some of the Banandium Gems in the this layer will require you to adjust the water level of the lagoon and utilize your Kong Bananza powers. These Banandium Gems can be fairly difficult to find — some are hidden inside Ancient Ruins, while others require you to think on your feet.
Below, we list where to find all of the Banandium Gems in the Lagoon Layer in Donkey Kong Bananza.

Sublayer 100 Banandium Gems
We’ve found 25 Banandium Gems in Sublayer 100 of the Lagoon layer.
#1: First Crockoid Cracked!

The first Banandium Gem will appear immediately in front of you when you first land in the sublayer.
#2: Cave by the Cape

From the starting point, walk forward along the right edge until you run into a wall. Hop over the wall and drop down. In the center of the area, you’ll find a soft dirt wall. Punch through the wall and head inside to find the second Banandium Gem.
#3: Lagoon’ Smashin Stats

This banana only shows up after you beat the main story of the game.
Our buddy Smashintone shows up on the Lagoon Layer requesting that you smash 5,000 cubic meters of… water? To do this, stand under any of the waterfalls on this level and spam the X button, smashing upwards. After doing this, talk to Smashintone to get your banana.
#4: Bathing Banana

Follow the road from the Reservoir Bank tuning fork. Look up to your right around halfway down the path and you’ll see a dirt wall. Smash through it, drop into some water, and smash the gem.
#5: Shifty Smash: Beyond the Wall

Follow the road from the Reservoir Bank tuning fork, and instead of turning left toward the rotating concrete doors, climb the grassy cliffs. On the other side, above the entrance to Sublayer 101, you’ll see a shifty triangle, which looks like shiny silver pyramid. Break the triangle to start a timed event where you need to demolish a cube on the other side of the cliff in 20 seconds. Do that, and the Banandium Gem will appear.
To easily complete this challenge, we recommend breaking the wall behind the triangle before you even start the challenge. After you start the challenge, break off a chunk of the bomb rock and throw it at the shifty cube to finish the challenge.
#6: Battle: Stoney, Grassy Goons

Follow the main walking path that starts at the Reservoir Bank tuning fork. You’ll find an Ancient Rune entrance on the right, containing a battle against three Crockoids. Defeat them to get the gem.
#7: A Nook behind Concrete

Between the rotating concrete walls and the waterfall on the other side is a small concrete panel with gold sparks coming off it. Throw a bomb rock at it to shatter the panel, and the Gem is in a niche behind it.
#8: Battle: Both Sides of the Bridge

This gem can be obtained in the Ancient Ruin next to the Reservoir Hills tuning fork. Defeat six Antickoids to get it.
#9: Smash Through the Floor

You’ll find a giant cave shaped like a monkey head behind the giant waterfall in the center of the map. Go inside, climb the ceiling, and punch the enemy when it’s right above the destructible floor spot. Jump into the cave inside to get the gem.
#10: Cranky’s Lagoon Rant

Behind the giant cave shaped like a monkey head in the center of the map, you’ll find Rambi the rhinoceros. Toss stone chunks at the shifty objects floating near him to form platforms. Jump on them until you reach Cranky Kong and talk to him to get the tenth Banandium Gem.
#11: A Real Mouthful

Go to the mouth of the monkey head-shaped cliff behind the giant central waterfall. Punch into the dirt surface to find a gem.
#12: Rest Stop on Roof Road

This gem appears in the Ancient Ruin containing the Hangin’ on the Roof Road challenge, located above Reservoir Hills’ tuning fork. Follow the main path and you’ll find it midway through the level.
#13: Hidden on the Roof Road

Before reaching the exit of Hangin’ on the Roof Road, follow the roof path to the left. Punch the moving stone slabs to open a path to the hidden area at the back, which takes to you to a gem hidden behind a smashable wall.
#14: At the End of Roof Road

Complete the Hangin’ on the Roof Road Ancient Ruin and this gem will be waiting for you at the exit.
#15: Lakeside Low Road

Head to the entrance to the pond area just behind the Hangin’ on the Roof Road Ancient Ruin. Before walking on the bridge, turn around and drop down to a ledge next to the cliff wall. You’ll find two green barrels sitting next to a stone wall. Smash through that wall to find a gem inside.
#16: Battle: Swarms among the Pillars

In the area behind the Hangin’ on the Roof Road Ancient Ruin, hop into the water to find a cave opening along the back wall. Head inside of the opening and out the other side to find an Ancient Ruin. Go inside and defeat 50 Peekaboopoids to get the Banandium Gem.
#17: Follow the Voided Terrain

There’s a small opening on the ground right before the area with floating green pipe. Drop down and you’ll see a gem shielded by purple material. Smash through the dirt wall near it and follow the purple path on the floor until you reach an object you can open by singing. Punch it to get rid of the purple material and head back to claim your gem.
#18: Fishin’ for Bananas

Head to the edge of the map behind the floating pipe. If you look off of the edge, you’ll see a platform that you can drop onto. Land on the paltform and walk into the cave to find a couple fishing monkeys and a sunken Banandium Gem. Jump off of their fishing platform and dive punch the sunken gem a few times to retrieve it.
If you do this after letting water back into Sublayer 101, the Banandium Gem will be on dry ground.
#19: Rise and Rinse

Go to the pond below the floating green pipe structure. You’ll find a platform with a blue punching bag attached to it in the water. Punch it enough times to raise a platform with a gem on it from the center of the pond.
#20: Placed in a Pipe

Climb to the top of the floating pipe structure and follow it until you see an opening you can climb into. Head inside to find a hidden gem.
#21: Shifty Smash: Atop the Pipes

On top of the pipes, and in the center of the swirl, is another shifty triangle. Punch it to start a timed trial, where you need to correctly aim barrel cannon blasts to launch through obstacles. Clear them all in 20 seconds to get this Banandium Gem.
#22: Battle: Wings on the Wobbly Disc

When you reach the area with the floating green pipe, turn left to find a dirt wall. Break the wall and head inside to find an Ancient Ruin. Hop inside and defeat the three Buzzoids to get the gem.
#23: Beyond the Cloudy Platforms

From the Ancient Ruin with the Buzzoids, head to the other side of the area with the floating green pipe and walk to the edge of the layer. You’ll find two shifty platforms and a moving platform with a Banandium Gem on it. Throw any material at the shifty platforms and walk across to collect your gem.
#24: Blasting for the Banana

Just below Cranky Kong’s floating island, you’ll find a cave with a metal platform that you can dive punch. Dive punch the platform to set off an explosion that’ll reveal a Banandium Gem across from you, but be careful of the mines in the water!
#25: Lagoon Chip Exchange

This banana only shows up after you beat the main story of the game.
Either build two or more getaways to trade in your Banandium Chips to the concierge for this banana, or exchange it at the Banandium Chip Exchange at Sublevel 101. The more Banandium Chips you’ve exchanged before this, the more expensive this one will be.

Sublayer 101 Banandium Gems
We’ve found 25 Banandium Gems in Sublayer 101 of the Lagoon Layer.
#26: Landed in Salvager’s Landing!

Defeat the Crockoid sub-boss circling the central waterfall of Sublayer 100 and punch the stake. Drop down to Sublayer 101 and the gem will be there when you land.
#27: Shifty Smash: A Wall Hanging in the Air

Once you enter the Sublayer from the waterfall entrance in Sublayer 100, turn around. You’ll see a green platform with a shifty triangle on it. Chunk jump over to it or climb up to the platform and punch the triangle. You’ll have 20 seconds to blow up a concrete wall with boom rock, earning you a gem.
#28: On the Ceiling of the Floor

Once you’ve raised the water level in the area, swim underneath the village. You can now reach a gem hanging underneath the Thorn-Choked Conveyor Ruins.
#29: Over the Thorny Path

Head to the Thorn-Choked Conveyor Ancient Ruin located just past the Sublayer 101 entrance you access by dropping down from Sublayer 100’s central waterfall. Follow the linear path and you’ll get your first gem midway through the challenge.
#30: Into the Thorny Nook

Continue through Thorn-Choked Conveyor, past the first gem, until you see a patch in the left wall covered by thorns. Bomb rock your way through it to find a hidden gem.
#31: Through the Thorny Walls

Complete Thorn-Choked Conveyor and you’ll find the final gem right at the exit barrel.
#32: The Salvager’s Stash

When you enter the village, look to the right of the clothing vendor. You’ll see a green structure. There’s an opening on the side of it that will take you to an underground cavern with a gem inside.
#33: Battle: Concrete-Wall Clash

From the starting area accessed by dropping down the waterfall hole in Sublayer 100, immedietly go to the left. Go inside the ruin and fight two Crockoids to get the gem.
#34: Up, Over, and Across

After filling up the water by breaking the first pipe, drop down to the bottom of the level and go to stone platform on the west side of the map. Scale the wall and climb across the roof road. The gem will be on the other side.
#35: Within the Fast-Growing Grass

After fully filling up the water in the area, head to the yellow mossy island floating under banana #34. You’ll now be able to reach a road on the roof. Climb across it to reach a gem.
#36: Hangin’ on Orangu-Hang Highway!

Go to the back corner of Sublayer 100 and punch the stake sitting on a cliff, as part of the game’s main story. Jump down the hole and the gem will be down below when you land in Sublayer 101.
#37: Concrete Wall on the Moving Floor

Drop into Sublayer 101 from the Sublayer 100 entrance at Water Tank Hill. Follow the ceiling path until you reach a platform with a boom rock monster. Turn back towards the ceiling road and you’ll see a concrete wall that can be blown up. Take a chunk off the monster to blow it up, and chunk jump up to get inside the now opened tunnel. There’s another concrete wall in here on the side, which you can toss a boom rock at to reveal a gem.
#38: Outskirts of the Fishing Village

Drop down into Sublayer 101 using the entrance in Reservoir Outskirts in Sublayer 100, on the edge of the map. You’ll drop in front of a climable roof that leads to a gem.
#39: Crossed to the Kong Elder’s Court!

Once you get to the Sublayer, follow the main quest by blowing up two pipes to raise the water level. That will create a bridge you can walk across to reach the level’s elder and a gem.
#40: The Ship Stern’s Snack

When you reach the Elder Court, head to the back right side of the shipping container wall. Follow that edge to the back of the containers and you’ll find a gem around the corner atop a platform on the water.
#41: Past the First Scrappin’ Ground

Banandium Gems #41-50 are post-game bananas.
In order to get any of them, you’ll have to take part of a trial by the Kong Elder, after you collect 300 Banandium Gems total. Once you do, you can talk to the Kong Elder to take part in a “rehearsal.” The bananas all unlock one after another, so set aside a bit of time to complete this lengthy challenge level.
The first set of challenges involves using the boom rock hammers that crockoids are equipped with to take out spiked-concrete crockoids.
#42: Lure and Destroy!

This is the first of five bananas that are off on a “detour.” As you approach the above banana, you’ll notice a stone wall on the left side that looks very clearly different from the other walls. Smash it open to find a short challenge inside.
For this challenge, you’ll need to punch the blue balloon on the left so that the crockoids line up, and then dive punch on the explosive switch to blow them up while they’re all in a row.
#43: Past the Second Scrappin’ Ground

This second challenge focuses on taking out munchoids using bombs in lava. Bait out the munchoids and trigger the bombs so that the bodies of the munchoids get blown up. Be careful with the lava!
After taking out quite a few munchoids, you’ll get the banana.
#44: Lift and Destroy!

After you get the second gem, turn left again to take a second detour.
Use DK’s Hand Slaps and chunk throwing to bring the gooey platforms up and down. Hand Slam on the final platform while the enemies are slightly over the platform so that the pressure from the platform rising up destroys them to get your banana.
#45: Past the Third Scrappin’ Ground

This third set of challenges involves stompoids. Bait them successfully to stomp in the same spots to make them fall through the ground and to their deaths. You can also rip off a piece of concrete and just smack them to death with that.
#46: Wallop and Destroy!

Again, turn left and break open the stone wall next to the above banana to find this challenge. Bait the wallopoids to smush the stompoids to get this banana.
#47: Past the Fourth Scrappin’ Ground

This set of challenges involves punting rolluskoids into spiked-concrete molevoloids. You’ll get this banana after smashing enough molevoloids.
#48: Launch and Destroy!

This is another left detour through a stone wall next to the above banana. For this one, stand under the molevoloids and punch incoming squeeloids upwards by punching with X. You’ll get the banana when both molevoloids are dead.
#49: Bounce and Destroy!

This is a final detour on the left side, as you smash through a bunch of triangle concrete walls towards the end. Charge punch the balls up, using the pyramids on the edge as a ramp, killing the three crockoids to get this banana.
#50: Past the Fifth Scrappin’ Ground

The fifth challenge involves charge punching huge metal balls (like the ones the final boss had) into spiked enemies, as if you’re bowling. Line yourself up with the enemies and punch the ball as it rolls in front of you and you’ll get this banana at the very end of the level.

Lagoon Layer Sublayer 102 Banandium Gems
We’ve found six Banandium Gems found in Sublayer 102 of the Lagoon Layer.
#51: Dropped into Chimpy Channel!

Complete the main story quest of Sublayer 101, earning the first Bananza power and smashing through the shipping container maze. You’ll reach an entrance to Sublayer 102 at the end and a gem will be there when you jump down.
#52: Pop and Destroy

Enter the Ancient Ruin at the start of the area. Collect all the balloons to complete the challenge and spawn a gem back at the entrance.
#53: Atop the Concrete Roof

When inside Lagoon Layer Challenge Course 3, climb to the top of the maze. There’s a gem up there!
#54: Hung from the Ceiling

Upon entering the maze, head to the right. You’ll be able to climb a wall near the edge of the maze that will take you up to a climable ceiling path that ends at a gem.
#55: Shipwrecked Treasure

Walk to the wall opposite the Ancient Ruin. Punch through it and you’ll come out to an area with a small ship. There’s a gem inside of it.
#56: Lagoon Hide-and-Seek

This banana only shows up after you beat the main story of the game.
Find the four Fractones on Sublayer 102 to get this banana. One is half-inside of a hole, another is disguised as a boom rock, another is camoflauged as a statue along the edge of the platform, and one is kind of just sitting in plain sight.
The next layer after this one is the Hilltop Layer, which also has a ton of Banandium Gems.
