Man Fatally Shot, Crashes Into Mail Truck in Memphis
A deadly shooting on a Memphis street resulted in a man being shot, crashing his car into a mail truck, and subsequently dying from his injuries, according to local authorities. The Memphis Police Department responded to the violent incident near the intersection of South Parkway East and South Third Street at around 5:15 p.m. Thursday.
The victim, whose identity has not been released by officials, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds after his vehicle rammed into a United States Postal Service truck. Despite being transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition, the man did not survive his injuries. Action News 5 reported that the suspect, who reportedly fled the scene in a black pickup truck, is still at large.
Witness accounts and preliminary investigations suggest that the victim's black Nissan was targeted by the shooter from the black pickup truck, which led to the victim's vehicle colliding into the mail truck. Officers, according to FOX13 Memphis, arrived on the chaotic scene to find the wreckage and the urgency of the victim's injuries.
This latest act of violence has unsettled the Memphis community. Local resident Stacy James expressed her concern to WREG, stating, "I think it’s sad. There too much going on in the world. We need to have some other things going on. People need lives, I think that’s what it is. Get a job." The Memphis Police have yet to release additional information on the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter.
