Take a road trip through Texas and you’ll quickly realize how big it is. After hours of driving, it's common to find you aren’t even close to making it out of the Lone Star State. This makes good road trip snacks an absolute essential.Thankfully, Texans have created a solution to this necessity: A pit-stop destination that puts all other road trip stops to shame. Not only does it have an iconic line-up of snacks and food items, but it also has 120 gas pumps and a beaver mascot. If you are from the South you probably already know exactly what I am talking about: the iconic Texas convenience store Buc-ee's.What Is Buc-ee’s?If you aren’t familiar with Buc-ee’s, here is what you need to know. Buc-ee’s is a chain of gas stations in the U.S. But its famously clean bathrooms and Texas road trip fare make it more than a convenience store. The gas station is so iconic that not stopping at a Buc-ee’s while on a Texas road trip is against the law. Ok, not actually. But, why would you want to skip out on a mega convenience store with a seemingly endless supply of beaver merch and barbecue sandwiches? As someone who grew up in Texas, I have taken my fair share of Buc-ee’s runs. While the chain is known for its iconic Beaver Nuggets, I think there's another Buc-ee’s snack that beats it. It's so good, that I’d even eat this divine combo when I’m not road-tripping. While I just visited Buc-ee's to stock up, not everyone is lucky enough to live close to one. Thankfully, it's incredibly easy to make at home.Buc-ee’s Peanut Butter Blast Trail Mix Is My Favorite Road Trip SnackIf I am guilty of anything, it is picking all of the M&M’s and peanuts out of a bag of trail mix until I’m left with only a bag of random nuts and raisins. Leave it up to none other than Buc-ee’s to finally find the solution to this problem. The Buc-ee’s Peanut Butter Blast Trail Mix is a snack that makes driving hours through Texas worth it. While incredibly delicious, it's nothing crazy: This snack is a trail mix made with only peanut-butter-flavored snacks. In other words, it is a trail mix that I can enjoy every single element of.As someone incredibly dedicated to peanut butter, this trail mix is a dream. All six ingredients in this assortment are worth their place: peanuts, honey-roasted peanuts, peanut butter chips, peanut butter candies, mini peanut butter cups, and peanut-butter-coated pretzel balls. Some might say this is too much peanut butter. I say there is no such thing.I can’t think of a better road trip snack. Every bite is perfectly salty, sweet, and nutty. Pair it with a Coke and you have the perfect way to pass the time. But, I don’t just want to wait until I’m driving by a Buc-ee’s to grab myself a bag (or two) of this delicious treat, and I bet you feel the same. Lucky for us, this mix has only six ingredients and is easy to make at home. How to Make Buc-ee's Peanut Butter Blast Trail Mix at HomeMaking trail mix doesn’t take that much explaining. Once you have all of your ingredients, dump them in a bowl, mix them up, and you're ready to go. What I do need to add, though, is that this specific Buc-ee’s treat is replicable with ingredients found at none other than the beloved grocery store Trader Joe’s.My love for TJ’s is not a secret, but the store has never let me down–even when I am craving my favorite gas station treat. If you are looking for the ingredients for peanut butter blast trail mix, look no further than your nearest TJ’s. Not only does it sell honey-roasted peanuts, but it also often sells mini peanut butter cups. While it doesn't have peanut-butter-coated pretzel balls, it does have pretzel nuggets, which come pretty close. Other grocery stores might have similar ingredients as well. Grab some peanuts, some Reese's pieces, pretzels, and peanut butter chips and I’d say you are on the right track. With my most recent road trip behind me, I’m already craving another bag of trail mix. Looks like I’m going to need to put this TJ’s recipe to the test. My version might not have a beaver’s stamp of approval, but it's close enough for me. Read the original article on All Recipes.
