iA legendary comedian was arrested this past Friday. Reportedly, what started as a traffic violation led to the comedian soon facing other charges. Notably, the figure has had a prominent career as an entertainer, even being dubbed a “king of comedy” for his work over the years.
A Traffic Violation Eventually Led To The Comedian Being Taken Into Police Custody
The comedian had been driving in Burbank, California, this past Friday. Reportedly, a cop had pulled him over for a traffic violation.
At this time, it was unclear what the original violation was. However, when police searched the car, some type of narcotics were reportedly found inside.

According to TMZ, the comedian was identified as actor Paul Rodriguez. After the narcotics were found, he was arrested and taken into custody for a misdemeanor possession. However, the publication claimed he is expected to be released soon.
The publication noted that things haven’t been easy for Rodriguez in recent years. His friend Donald Serrato died from natural causes while staying at his Los Angeles home this past November. In 2021, Rodriguez also underwent quadruple bypass surgery.
Rodriguez has had a prominent career in comedy, having started as an entertainer in the early 1980s. Notably, he has appeared in a variety of films, including The Whoopee Boys, A Cinderella Story, Blood Work, Born in East L.A., Tortilla Soup, and Rat Race.
Over the years, Rodriguez has also had a prominent career as a voice actor. This has included roles in television series and films like King of the Hill, Dora the Explorer, and Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
Paul Rodriguez Has Earned Various Honors For His Work In Comedy Over The Years
In 2002, Rodriguez was notably featured in the comedy film, The Original Latin Kings of Comedy. The film featured stand up routines from comedians like George Lopez, Cheech Marin, Joey Medina, and Alex Reymundo, in addition to Rodriguez.
In 2009, Rodriguez was also featured in the special, Paul Rodriguez: Comedy Rehab, of which he hosted and produced. Added to that, n 2011, Paul Rodriguez: Just for the Record, which documented a love performance from Rodriguez, was also released.
In addition to his status as a “comedy king,” Rodriguez was also ranked on Comedy Central’s “100 Greatest Standups of all Time” back in 2004. He is also part-owner of the Laugh Factory comedy venue in Los Angeles, California.
In his personal life, Rodriguez’s son, also known as Paul Rodriguez, is a professional skateboarder. He has notably competed in the X Games and has launched his own company, Primitive Skateboarding. The younger Rodriguez is also known as “P-Rod,” presumably to help differentiate his from his comedian father.
