Know Before You Go: The Beatles' Ringo Starr Tickets On Sale Saturday

NEW LENOX, IL — Ticket sales begin Saturday for the highly anticipated appearance of The Beatles' drummer Ringo Starr in New Lenox. Ringo Starr, who was the drummer of the groundbreaking rock band, will take the stage at the New Lenox Commons on Saturday, Sept. 14. He's joined by his All Starr band, comprised of Warren Ham (of "Kansas"), Edgar Winter, Steve Lukather (of "Toto"), Hamish Stuart, Colin Hay (of "Men At Work"), and Gregg Bissonette. Starr marks the second act in the Village's Summer Concert Series, formerly known as Triple Play. Smokey Robinson opens the series on June 1.Tickets for Starr's show will go on sale for New Lenox residents at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at New Lenox Village Hall, 1 Veterans Parkway—and there are a few things residents should know to make sure sales run smoothly. Standard sales begin at 8 a.m. until 12 p.m., and tickets can be purchased on the upper or lower levels of Village Hall at that time. Tickets are $90 each, and there is no limit to how many you may purchase, officials said Friday. You must be a New Lenox resident (or pay into New Lenox taxing bodies), and proof of residency is required—ID, utility bill or tax bill will work. Those who have purchased Smokey Robinson tickets should bring their receipts, and will be allowed early access to ticket sales, from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on the upper level. A receipt for Smokey Robinson ticket purchase is required to receive a $10 discount on a Ringo Starr ticket. For each Smokey Robinson ticket purchased, a resident may purchase one Ringo Starr ticket. Officials stressed residents must bring a receipt for their Smokey Robinson ticket purchase, for early access to the sale and to receive the $10 discount. Those who wish to purchase more Ringo Starr tickets than Smokey Robinson tickets must then enter the standard sales line, officials said. If tickets remain, sales will open to non-New Lenox residents on May 13. He recently released a single “February Sky,” a new on Friday, April 12 from his upcoming EP Crooked Boy.Starr’s latest book, “Beats and Threads ” is also available for pre-order now. “Beats & Threads” features nearly 300 images capturing iconic and many never-before-seen intimate moments of Ringo’s illustrious life and career, along with the drum icon’s warm memories told in his own words.Starr has released 20 solo studio albums and 4 consecutive EPs. He formed his first All Starr Band in 1989 and has been touring since. Ringo has received nine GRAMMY Awards, and has twice been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — first as a Beatle and then as solo artist, according to his website.Noting the higher ticket price for the Starr show, Mayor Tim Baldermann previously said the price is lower than that of his shows at other venues, with most ticket prices elsewhere starting at $140, on the low-end."He’s got amazing, talented artists, and they’re his band," Baldermann said. "You’re getting a super group."The article Know Before You Go: The Beatles' Ringo Starr Tickets On Sale Saturday appeared first on New Lenox, IL Patch.
