Venice Band Arrested After Putting On Illegal Street Show In Long Beach: Report

LONG BEACH, CA — A Venice-based band was arrested after putting on an illegal street performance in Long Beach following the conclusion of the Vans Warped Tour Sunday, according to a report by the Long Beach Watchdog. The band Who Cares didn't perform at the Vans Warped Tour, but put on their own performances by the Pike Outlets on Saturday without any issue, according to the report. But a second performance on Sunday garnered much more attention due to a larger crowd. Video posted on Instagram by the Long Beach Watchdog and the band shows the band members playing atop a van along Pine Avenue and Bay Street. Soon after, the band members are seen in handcuffs being taken away by police.“In the final song I said ‘fuck the cops,’” the band's singer Omar Sandlin told the Long Beach Watchdog. “[Police] were like, ‘Dude, we were going to be cool with you until you did that.’ That’s pretty on brand for a pig to even say that dumb shit to me.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Long Beach Watchdog (@lbwatchdog)Arrest records show Sandlin and at least one other bandmate were taken into custody on suspicion of disturbing the peace through loud and unreasonable noise and not having a permit to put on a special event or parade — both misdemeanors. They were also cited for having a vehicle block the crosswalk."This is REAL rock n roll," one person commented on the band's Instagram. "Crazy night!!!," another person said. "Punk is still alive."
