New Jersey United AC Stun Syracuse FC 3-0

By Miguel Freire
New Jersey United AC secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Syracuse FC in Camden, New York, marking their second consecutive win and their first-ever away victory in club history.
The first half of the game ended in a stalemate as both sides had very good defense, meaning few chances for either to score a goal. It took a while for both sides to settle into the match, but there was ultimately nothing that separated them by halftime.
The second half was a different story altogether, as New Jersey United came out with a renewed sense of purpose and aggression. Their midfield began to dominate possession, stringing together passes and pushing Syracuse FC deeper into their own half.
The breakthrough came in the 51st minute when Diego Navas scored his second goal of the season. Navas received a cross from the wing and found the back of the net inside the six-yard box, leaving the Syracuse goalkeeper with no chance.
Just five minutes later, Khaled Daoud doubled United’s lead in the 56th minute. Daoud, who had been relatively quiet in the first half, found himself in the right place at the right time to capitalize on a defensive lapse, which saw him execute in a one-on-one situation.
But Daoud wasn’t finished yet. In the 70th minute, he scored his second goal of the game, putting the result beyond doubt. A strike on his weaker left foot left the goalkeeper with nothing to do but watch as the ball ended up in the top left corner in an exquisite finish.
While the offense grabbed the headlines, it was also a great day for United’s defense and their goalkeeper Max Pfaffman. Following his excellent debut performance, Pfaffman secured his second consecutive clean sheet. Though he wasn’t as busy as he was last week, he still needed to stay focused when called upon. Diego Fernandez, Jimmy Bruno, Joseph Pinho, and captain Sean Cadigan rounded out the defense that shut out Syracuse FC.
It is also worth mentioning the exceptional tactical changes by head coach Fernando Barboto at halftime, which injected new life into the New Jersey side.
With this win, New Jersey United not only continued to impress in their first-ever season but also set a new milestone by achieving their first away victory. The team will look to build on this momentum as they prepare to face another New York side, the New York Shockers, next week. A win there would further cement their position as a formidable team this season.
“A solid win and statement performance by the whole squad,” New Jersey United assistant coach and technical director Samuel Roca said. “Special acknowledgement to our captain Sean Cadigan for his defensive prowess and ball distribution from the back. Ryan Kuldanek for being the engine in the midfield and exemplifying grit and toughness. And finally our goal scorers— Khaled Daoud and Diego Navas for their electrifying goal scorer ability today.”
On the other hand, Syracuse FC will need to regroup and address the issues that led to their downfall in the second half. They will travel to face Kingston Stockade FC, hoping to bounce back and get their season back on track.
“Scoring goals, and a shutout on the road is always a great accomplishment,” New Jersey United head Coach Fernando Barboto said. “We hope this win will give us more confidence for next weekend.”
In summary, New Jersey United’s 3-0 victory over Syracuse FC was a testament to their growing confidence and tactical execution. Goals from Navas and Daoud, combined with a stellar defensive performance, highlighted a game where United continued to set a strong foundation for future success.
